Summer No. 6, Wednesday 17th July 2019
Gospel of the Week
The Good Samaritan
Then a teacher of the law stood up. He was trying to test Jesus. He said, “Teacher, what must I do to get life forever?”
Jesus said to him, “What is written in the law? What do you read there?”
The man answered, “Love the Lord your God. Love him with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind.” Also, “You must love your neighbour as you love yourself.”
Jesus said to him, “Your answer is right. Do this and you will have life forever.”
But the man wanted to show that the way he was living was right. So he said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbour?”
To answer this question, Jesus said, “A man was going down the road from Jerusalem to Jericho. Some robbers attacked him. They tore off his clothes and beat him. Then they left him lying there, almost dead. It happened that a Jewish priest was going down that road. When the priest saw the man, he walked by on the other side of the road. Next, a Levite came there. He went over and looked at the man. Then he walked by on the other side of the road. Then a Samaritan travelling down the road came to where the hurt man was lying. He saw the man and felt very sorry for him. The Samaritan went to him and poured olive oil and wine on his wounds and bandaged them. He put the hurt man on his own donkey and took him to an inn. At the inn, the Samaritan took care of him. The next day, the Samaritan brought out two silver coins and gave them to the innkeeper. The Samaritan said, ‘Take care of this man. If you spend more money on him, I will pay it back to you when I come again.’”
Then Jesus said, “Which one of these three men do you think was a neighbour to the man who was attacked by the robbers?”
The teacher of the law answered, “The one who helped him.”
Jesus said to him, “Then go and do the same thing he did!”

School Uniform
With the academic year drawing to a close we would like to remind parent/carers that the children need to be wearing the correct uniform at all times. Most of our uniform may be purchased in supermarkets and there are very few branded items required. All of the uniform requirements may be found in our Uniform Policy which may be found at the following link:

A few years ago the Governors made the decision, after requests from parent/carers to relax the policy on footwear, to allow the children to wear BLACK trainers instead of shoes, as this would help out families who were only able to afford one pair of shoes/trainers and also saved time at breaks, where children were changing shoes for playtime.
This decision was made with the proviso that should the policy be abused it may revert back to shoes only. Unfortunately a considerable number of children are continuing to wear coloured and branded trainers to school. The governors will reassess the situation in the Autumn Term, therefore please send your children to school in black trainers/shoes only. If your children require new shoes/trainers over the summer please bear in mind the policy and only purchase black trainers/shoes for wearing to school, thank you.
Weekly News
The children will be presenting a Weekly News Bulletin most Wednesdays. Follow this link to catch up on past episodes:

School Polls
Every child has been enrolled into a 'Google Classroom' called School Polls. The first poll is for the children to choose their favourite books from a very long list. The winning books were used to create a display on the stairs to make them look like a giant library. You can see a section of the stairs in the banner at the top of the newsletter!
Prize Day
Our Annual Prize Day is on Friday at 10.00am in St Stephen's Church. Prizes are being awarded for both academic and sporting excellence. There will also be a performance by our Ukulele Orchestra and also Mrs Rider's very talented recorder players.
