Gospel of the Week

Mary the Holy Mother of God - Year A

They gave Him the name Jesus

So the shepherds went quickly and found Mary and Joseph. And the shepherds saw the baby lying in a feeding box. Then they told what the angels had said about this child. Everyone was amazed when they heard what the shepherds said to them. Mary hid these things in her heart; she continued to think about them. Then the shepherds went back to their sheep, praising God and thanking him for everything that they had seen and heard. It was just as the angel had told them.

When the baby was eight days old, he was circumcised, and he was named Jesus. This name had been given by the angel before the baby began to grow inside Mary.

Luke 2:16-21

A Message from

Mrs Brosnan

Welcome back for the Spring Term and a Happy New Year to you all! I hope you all had a restful and Holy Christmas and are looking forward to the new term. There will be lots of exciting things happening and you will be able to read all about them in the weekly newsletter.

I am sure you will join me in welcoming two new members of staff to the St Winefride's family and I am sure they will soon feel at home here.

New Staff and Roles

We are delighted to welcome two new members of staff to St Winefride's this term and also to announce a change in role.

Mrs Whitehorn is moving from her role as Early Years Manager to take on the role of Inclusion Manager, this includes the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) role.

Replacing Mrs Whitehorn as the Early Years Leader will be Mrs Krish. There will be a handover period where Mrs Whitehorn and Mrs Krish will both be working in the Nursery.

Finally, Mr Prinsloo has now joined us as Class 3/4's teacher for the rest of the academic year.

We are sure you will join us in welcoming them to St Winefride's and their new roles.

The Parent Carer Choir rehearsals for the Easter Performance will be starting soon!

What Parents & Carers need to know about

Staying Safe on New Devices

Happy new year! We’re going back to basics with our first guide of 2023 – a special edition in poster format, with some January reminders about simple things that children and young people can do to make themselves safer online. They’re likely to have encountered many of these suggestions before, but there’s no harm in refreshing their memory for the months ahead.

Most tech-savvy youngsters will probably have memorised the fundamentals, like keeping passwords secret and not chatting to strangers on the internet – but some children may benefit from remembering slightly less obvious steps such as treating anything they read online with caution or asking permission before downloading a game or app.

This Week's Prayer

Dear Father,

We thank you for the joy that Jesus brings. Help us to share that joy with everyone we meet. In Jesus' name we pray,

Amen.

God Bless You,

Mrs Brosnan
