Gospel of the Week

(The Second Sunday of Ordinary Time - Year B)

The First Followers of Jesus

The next day John was there again with two of his followers. He saw Jesus walking by and said, “Look, the Lamb of God!”

The two followers heard John say this. So they followed Jesus. Jesus turned and saw them following him. He asked, “What do you want?”

They said, “Rabbi, where are you staying?” (“Rabbi” means “Teacher.”)

Jesus answered, “Come with me and you will see.” So the two men went with Jesus. They saw the place where Jesus was staying and stayed there with him that day. It was then about four o’clock.

These two men followed Jesus after they heard about him from John. One of the men was Andrew. He was Simon Peter’s brother. The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother, Simon. He said to Simon, “We have found the Messiah.” (“Messiah” means “Christ.”)

Then Andrew took Simon to Jesus. Jesus looked at Simon and said, “You are Simon son of John. You will be called Cephas.” (“Cephas” means “Peter.”)

John 1:35-42

Remote Learning

Once again we have been very impressed and delighted with all of the children accessing our remote learning offer and Zoom calls this week.

From Monday 18th January a new daily timetable will be in place. This timetable has been sent out to parents/carers today via MarvellousMe, it is available on the website in the remote learning information section and will be posted on individual class pages by Monday morning.

This new timetable has a daily mix of Zoom sessions, live lessons, pre-recorded lessons and uploaded lessons. We hope this will help to keep the children engaged with their learning and make parents and carers lives a little easier while the children are learning at home.

Please ensure you children fill in the daily response form available on their online class pages about the learning they have completed each day.

If you are having trouble accessing the work please contact your child's teacher by emailing the new class email accounts - see below for the class email addresses.

Useful Information from Previous Newsletters

Queries and Complaints Procedure

We are noticing an increase in parent/carers coming into school and asking for immediate face to face appointments with members of staff.

It should be remembered that class teachers are only available outside of teaching hours. While some members of staff that you may wish to speak to may not be class based they also have many meetings and deadlines that have to be met. Having said this we will always do our best to arrange an appointment as soon as it it possible to do so.

While in 'normal' times we would be happy to book you an appointment to see the member of staff you wish to see, at the present time this will not be possible and all appointments will be via the telephone.

We do have a structure that we would ask every parent/carer to follow if they would like to raise a query or a concern about their child at school. In the first instance the person you should ask to speak to is your child's teacher, they are best placed to deal with any queries you may have.

So if you have a query or complaint, please follow the procedure shown in the accompanying flow chart. During these times of uncertainty with the COVID-19 Pandemic we are trying to minimise the number of people entering the school premises, so all queries and complaints will be dealt with via telephone for the foreseeable future. If you would like to read our Queries and Complaints Policy please click on either the flow chart or the link above, or go to the Policies page on our website.

Blood Donations

A message from the NHS Blood Transfusion Service:

We are working hard to increase the number of people giving blood and for this we urgently need your help.

The pandemic means fewer people are travelling into city centres to work and shop. That means our donor centres have more appointments available than usual.

Your NHS urgently needs more donors at Stratford Donor Centre.

To keep your NHS supplied with plenty of lifesaving blood during a potentially challenging winter, could you help us by:

By building blood stocks now, we can all help the NHS through the critical winter period and a second wave of covid-19.

If you are able to, please donate blood at the Stratford Donor Centre. Book your appointment at blood.co.uk
