Autumn No. 8, Friday 22nd October 2021
Then they came to the town of Jericho. As Jesus was leaving there with his followers and a large crowd, a blind beggar named Bartimaeus (son of Timaeus) was sitting by the road. He heard that Jesus from Nazareth was walking by. The blind man cried out, “Jesus, Son of David, please help me!”
Many people scolded the blind man and told him to be quiet. But he shouted more and more, “Son of David, please help me!”
Jesus stopped and said, “Tell the man to come here.”
So they called the blind man. They said, “Cheer up! Get to your feet. Jesus is calling you.” The blind man stood up quickly. He left his coat there and went to Jesus.
Jesus asked him, “What do you want me to do for you?”
The blind man answered, “Teacher, I want to see again.”
Jesus said, “Go. You are healed because you believed.” At once the man was able to see again, and he followed Jesus on the road.
Following Last week's (Thursday 30/9/2021) meeting, as requested you may collect a Supplementary Information Form (SIF) from the Front Office or click the buttons below. There is also a link to the presentation if you were unable to attend and also a link to the 'We are going to secondary school booklet'.
If you have any compost or even better topsoil to spare we would be very grateful if you are able to donate it to the school so that we may 'refresh' our garden area.
At St Winefride’s we offer a variety of After School Clubs to meet the different interests of the children. We use the skills and expert knowledge of the staff and outside organisations to run a range of clubs. We believe that clubs are a valuable extension to the school day allowing children the additional opportunities to work with their peers and adults.
The majority of clubs run for a 6 week block and are open to all children in a phase group. When a new club becomes available parents will be notified by the Marvellous Me app and children take home a letter. Allocation is on a first come, first served basis and once places are filled all parents are notified by Marvellous Me app whether their child has a place or not. If unsuccessful, the child is placed on the waiting list for the next eligible club. We aim to ensure every child will attend a club throughout the year so preference will be given to those who have not yet attended. When your child gets a place in a club it is important that they attend each week as the place could have been offered to another child.
At St Winefride's, the needs of the children are of paramount importance and so their opinions matter. Through regular evaluations we assess whether we are running the clubs that the children want. We therefore try to change the clubs on offer each term to meet the demand.
Your views are also important to us. If you have any ideas on clubs or have a particular area of expertise that you would like to share with us and the children then please do let us know.
Mr Brown will contact you to confirm your child's place in a n Extracurricular Club

As always at the start of the year the children are coming in in their lovely new uniform. Unfortunately, some children take off their jumpers and are not entirely sure where they have left them! To help us return the jumpers to the correct children it is VERY helpful if you put your child's name in every item of school uniform, especially jumpers. If you would like to see the school uniform policy please click the button below.
Please use the recommended school bags for your children's belongings. The children do not have to bring much to school as everything is provided. Some children are brining in very large bags which are too cumbersome for the coat racks, please use the regular school bag available at My Clothing. Don't worry our logo will be embroidered on the bag!
The children will be having PE on the following days each week:
Y1 & Y2: Tuesday am & pm
Y3 & Y4: Wednesday pm & Thursday pm
Y5 & Y6: Monday pm & Friday pm
For the moment all children may continue to come to school in their PE Kits, as outlined in the school uniform list.
Around one in every three people has been fooled (even if only briefly) into thinking a social media bot was a real person. Evidence suggests that bots are increasingly being used on social platforms to artificially amplify the popularity of a person or movement, to influence political outcomes and as accessories in phishing scams – so their ability to deceive us is becoming more of a concern.
Twisting public debate, disrupting online courtesy and – in some cases – jeopardising human wellbeing are among the more worrying threats that bots can pose. In our guide this week, you’ll find useful tips on how to identify bots on social media – including giveaways like odd usernames, unusual patterns of posting and dubious profile pictures.
If you would like to see previous guides please go to: https://nationalonlinesafety.com/hub/guide which has all of the guides and much more.
