Gospel of the Week

The Twenty Ninth Sunday in Ordinary Time - Year C

God will answer His people

Then Jesus used this story to teach his followers that they should always pray and never lose hope. “Once there was a judge in a town. He did not care about God. He also did not care what people thought about him. In that same town there was a widow who kept coming to this judge.

She said, ‘There is a man who is not being fair to me. Give me my rights!’ But the judge did not want to help the widow. After a long time, he thought to himself, ‘I don’t care about God. And I don’t care about what people think. But this widow is bothering me. I will see that she gets her rights, or she will bother me until I am worn out!’”

The Lord said, “Listen to what the bad judge said. God’s people cry to him night and day. God will always give them what is right, and he will not be slow to answer them. I tell you, God will help his people quickly! But when the Son of Man comes again, will he find those on earth who believe in him?”

Luke 18:1-8

A message from Mrs Brosnan

This week I was fortunate enough to attend the Brentwood Head Teachers Conference along with school leaders from across the Diocese. The theme of the conference was based around Catholic Social Teaching. We were asked to think about our own schools and how we encourage our children to develop their responsibility to participate in society and to promote the common good, especially for the poor and vulnerable.

At St Winefride's our curriculum is underpinned by education for social responsibility - teaching our children to learn about the challenges the world is facing and, with Jesus' help, inspiring them to improve and preserve the world we live in.

It is clear that our children embrace all elements of Catholic Social Teaching, working towards making our world a better place for all with so many examples from school springing to mind, from fundraising for those less fortunate to the way they help and look after each other.

It reminded me of how proud I am of our children and the way in which they are developing as future citizens and leaders of our world.

What a privilege for us to be a part of their journey!

Have a lovely weekend.

What Parents & Carers need to know about

FIFA 23

FIFA 23, like its many predecessors, is a massively popular football simulator featuring lifelike recreations of thousands of real-world players, drawn from teams around the globe. While the gameplay is subtly improved year on year, the publisher EA’s focus remains firmly on FIFA Ultimate Team – a mode in the game that can tempt players of all ages to spend actual money on recruiting better players for their side. With each new release of FIFA comes a host of new players to unlock – meaning that youngsters can feel pressured to keep buying to compete with their friends.

In the guide, you'll find tips on a number of potential risks such as age-inappropriate chat, scammers and addiction.
