Christ the King - Year A
The King Will Judge All People
“The Son of Man will come again in his great glory. All his angels will come with him. He will be King and sit on his great throne. All the people of the world will be gathered before him. Then he will separate them into two groups as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. The Son of Man will put the sheep, the good people, on his right and the goats, the bad people, on his left.
“Then the King will say to the good people on his right, ‘Come. My Father has given you his blessing. Come and receive the kingdom God has prepared for you since the world was made. I was hungry, and you gave me food. I was thirsty, and you gave me something to drink. I was alone and away from home, and you invited me into your house. I was without clothes, and you gave me something to wear. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me.’
“Then the good people will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and give you food? When did we see you thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you alone and away from home and invite you into our house? When did we see you without clothes and give you something to wear? When did we see you sick or in prison and care for you?’
“Then the King will answer, ‘I tell you the truth. Anything you did for any of my people here, you also did for me.’
“Then the King will say to those on his left, ‘Go away from me. God has said that you will be punished. Go into the fire that burns forever. That fire was prepared for the devil and his helpers. I was hungry, and you gave me nothing to eat. I was thirsty, and you gave me nothing to drink. I was alone and away from home, and you did not invite me into your house. I was without clothes, and you gave me nothing to wear. I was sick and in prison, and you did not care for me.’
“Then those people will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty? When did we see you alone and away from home? Or when did we see you without clothes or sick or in prison? When did we see these things and not help you?’
“Then the King will answer, ‘I tell you the truth. Anything you refused to do for any of my people here, you refused to do for me.’
“These people will go off to be punished forever. But the good people will go to live forever.”

Road Safety Week
This week was Road Safety Week and the children all had special assemblies to learn about road safety.

Nativity Performance
We will be holding the Nativity Performance in the School Hall this year. Due to the space constraints we will now be having the performance on two dates to allow for all children as well as any parents and carers who wish to attend to be able to see the performance.
Please note it will be children from Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 who will be in the performance.
Children from Year 3 & 4 will be presenting the Easter Performance and children in Year 5 & 6 will be in the end of year production.
All parents and carers are welcome to attend all events regardless of whether their child is performing.
Santa's Grotto
We are delighted to let you know that we will be receiving a special visitor on Thursday 7th December...
Santa will be here to greet the children in Nursery and Reception, every child will receive a gift and you will be able to buy a photo of your child with Santa for only £1.00
Christmas Jumper Day
We will be celebrating Christmas Jumper Day twice this year, once on 7th December and also on 14th December, which is the day we all have Christmas dinner at school.
Of course, the children may wear the same jumper both days or simply wear Christmas colours, tinsel or baubles etc.
Christmas Table Sale
We will be holding a Christmas Sale on Friday 8th December at the end of the school day. If you see anything you would like to buy for your children for Christmas we will be keeping a 'reserved' list so you may pay for the item and collect it at a later date.
Please come along and support the school and pick up some bargains at the same time!
Reverse Advent Calendar
The Mini Vinnies and RE team have now launched our annual reverse advent calendar appeal. If you are able to donate any items please send them in with your child, they will be distributed to those in need in time for Christmas.
Christmas at Manor Park Library
There is a special Christmas Event at Manor Park Library on Saturday 9th December from 3.00pm to 6.00pm. Everyone is invited to go along and join in the fun!
Christmas Decorations
If you have any spare Christmas decorations looking for a home, we would be delighted to receive them, to make the school look nice and festive for the Advent Season.
The National Child Measurement Programme
Every year the NHS carries out a National Measurement check on al Reception and Year 6 children. If your child is in Reception or Year 6 you will have received a School Ping message with full details. Please check your messages to ensure you are up to date.

Easy Fundraising
We have joined forces with 'easyfundraising' in a scheme where everyone can help raise funds for the school at no cost to themselves, 'easyfundraising' is totally free to use for both causes and their supporters.

St Winefride's PTA
We are relaunching our PTA and would like to invite anyone interested in joining to come to our Coffee Morning next Friday at 9.00am. Diabetes Support at Manor Park Library
The Newham Diabetes Support Group is meeting every month, on some Wednesdays, from 6th December until 1 May 2024. Time 6.00pm - 7.30pm. See the picture for more details.
School Bags
Please note that the children should not bring rucksacks/backpacks into school as there is not enough space to store them safely. The children should have a book bag, either the one with the school logo (available from the school office or from My Clothing at £6.50 (+p&p) and will have the school logo on, not the example logo shown on the website) or a plain blue book bag. Thank you for your assistance with this matter.

Coffee Morning
We would like to remind all of our parents/carers that we hold a Coffee Morning on Fridays from 8.45am - 9.30am. Everyone is welcome, not just those parents/carers whose children are performing their song from the previous week's assembly.
So if you would like a cup of coffee or tea, a biscuit or a slice of toast, or just the chance to put your feet up and have a chat, please come along to the main hall and join in and chat with friends, old and new!

Home Work
Just a reminder that children should only complete the homework set and not fill in additional pages in their homework books. All homework books should be returned on the day set by your child's class teacher or by the Wednesday of the following week at the latest.
House Point Championship
In the closest race yet St Patrick came out top by just FIVE House Points, that is only ONE token! Remember every token counts, try your hardest next week to gain your house as many tokens as possible. Thank you to the House Captains and Vice Captains for collecting, counting and returning the tokens!
Class House Point Winners
The House Captains asked us if it would be possible to introduce a Class House Point Winners Certificates to encourage the teachers to award more House Points, so we said YES!

School Uniform
Please see the updated Uniform Policy below. We would strongly recommend purchasing non branded items, such as trousers, skirts, shirts, blouses, socks and shoes from supermarkets or other clothing retailers, many of whom will be having return to school sales. We will be carrying out regular uniform checks over the course of the year.

Black Friday/Cyber Monday
Black Friday and Cyber Monday have ballooned in popularity during the past few years, as prices on almost everything are slashed for a few precious days. With consumers in the UK alone spending a staggering £9.4 billion over last year’s discounted digital shopping weekend, it can often become a frenetic rush to grab tech, games and other products at knock-down prices.
Such radical reductions are especially welcome at this time of year – but Black Friday and Cyber Monday are also peak season for scammers, who bet on a sense of urgency blinding shoppers to the red flags in their ‘offers’. Our #WakeUpWednesday guide highlights some common warning signs to help you bag the goods without being left out of pocket.
Clever Never Goes
CLEVER NEVER GOES has been developed to replace the out-dated ‘stranger danger’ approach.
Whilst child abduction is relatively uncommon, it’s important that children can recognise the potential signs of danger. Teaching children simply to avoid strangers doesn’t work. Most strangers will help rather than harm children. Conversely, it is often people known to children that pose the greatest threat.
Clever Never Goes moves the focus away from strangers and instead teaches children to recognise when someone (anyone) is asking them to go with them. We call this ‘Go Spotting’. In doing so, the programme aims to give children practical safety skills which they can use as they get older and become more independent.
It’s about safety – but it’s also about building children’s abilities to engage with the outside world, and giving parents the confidence to let them.

Our New Educational Mental Health Wellbeing Practitioner
Is My Child Too Ill For School?
It can be tricky deciding whether or not to keep your child off school, nursery or playgroup when they're unwell.
There are government guidelines for schools and nurseries about managing specific infectious diseases at GOV.UK. These say when children should be kept off school and when they shouldn't.
If you do keep your child at home, it's important to phone the school or nursery on the first day. Let them know that your child won't be in and give them the reason.
If your child is well enough to go to school but has an infection that could be passed on, such as a cold sore or head lice, let their teacher know.

Sickness
Please remember to call our School Office if your child is unwell and leave a message.
It is also important to remember that if you child is vomiting or has an upset stomach they should remain off school until 48 hours have passed since their last episode of illness.
