Gospel of the Week

(The Twenty Third Sunday in Ordinary Time - Year A)

Dealing With Sin in the Church

"If your brother or sister sins, go and point out their fault, just between the two of you. If they listen to you, you have won them over. But if they will not listen, take one or two others along, so that ‘every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.’ If they still refuse to listen, tell it to the church; and if they refuse to listen even to the church, treat them as you would a pagan or a tax collector. “Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. “Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”

Matthew 18:15-20

Message from Mrs Brosnan

Welcome back!

I hope you had a restful summer break and are feeling rejuvenated for the new school year.

It has been a pleasure to welcome the children back this week, hear all about their holidays and see them so enthusiastic, happy and ready to learn.

A special welcome to our new nursery and reception children.

We look forward to another wonderful year with you all.

God bless, Mrs Brosnan

School Improvements

We are sure you will have seen the scaffolding around the school. This is part of a pre planned maintenance project which the school successfully secured funding of over £530,000 through a Condition Improvement Fund Bid to replace all of the flat roofs around the school and nothing to do with the recent concerns raised over concrete!

The works are causing a slight change to the way children are dismissed at the end of the day, with the Reception children leaving via the Main Hall. Would parents/carers please enter the hall via the doors in the playground to collect their children.

It is anticipated that the works will be completed by the end of the Autumn Term and the children will be dismissed from their usual places from the start of the Spring Term.

Change to School Dinner Menu next week

Due to an ongoing issue with equipment in the kitchen, next week the children will be served a selection of sandwiches, wraps and baguettes, along with fruit, ice cream etc for dessert.  We hope the full Autumn menu will be able to resume the following week.

School Uniform

Please see the updated Uniform Policy below. We would strongly recommend purchasing non branded items, such as trousers, skirts, shirts, blouses, socks and shoes from supermarkets or other clothing retailers, many of whom will be having return to school sales. We will be carrying out regular uniform checks over the course of the year.

Assembly Videos

Each week the Class presentation during the Achievement Assembly is recorded and then posted on our Vimeo site. Please click the button below to go to our Vimeo site and see the videos!

The Year 6 Leavers Performance and the Leavers Montage from the summer term are already up and ready for you to view.

Safeguarding - Keeping Your Child Safe

What Parents & Carers need to know about

Live Streaming

Around one in four social media users watch other people’s content in real time on those same platforms 👀📱 What’s more, Ofcom estimates that 58% of children in the UK have consumed video content this way – with many also creating and broadcasting their own material online 🤳

Live streaming, as it’s known, has become immensely popular – with some streamers drawing tens of millions of followers. Among those viewers, however, lurk individuals who may pose a threat. This National College guide shows how you can help to protect young live streamers.

Clever Never Goes

CLEVER NEVER GOES has been developed to replace the out-dated ‘stranger danger’ approach.

Whilst child abduction is relatively uncommon, it’s important that children can recognise the potential signs of danger. Teaching children simply to avoid strangers doesn’t work. Most strangers will help rather than harm children. Conversely, it is often people known to children that pose the greatest threat.

Clever Never Goes moves the focus away from strangers and instead teaches children to recognise when someone (anyone) is asking them to go with them. We call this ‘Go Spotting’. In doing so, the programme aims to give children practical safety skills which they can use as they get older and become more independent.

It’s about safety – but it’s also about building children’s abilities to engage with the outside world, and giving parents the confidence to let them.

Picture News

In Canada, the government in the province of Ontario is set to pass a new law making it compulsory for children to wear lifejackets on boats. In the UK there is no legal requirement for anyone using rivers and seas for leisure to wear a lifejacket.

This week's question is: "Should lifejackets be compulsory for all on open water?"
