SOME VERY IMPORTANT REMINDERS AND INFORMATION FROM US

1.Reminder - no nuts please - We are a 'NO NUTS' school, only food that does not contain nuts is permitted in school, this includes products stating they ‘may contain nuts’. Please see page six for translations to Ukrainian, Chinese and Turkish languages.

2. Booking school lunches - we politely request booking a month at a time, we are doing a lunch register in the morning and the parents/carers of children who put their hands up for having a school lunch but who are not on the paid list will be invoiced on Spider or the cost deducted from their credit on Spider. This is a time consuming task each day and where there is repeated occurrences we will need to speak to parents directly. If your circumstances have changed and you require financial assistance to meet the cost of school lunches please call or email us at info@st-stephens.richmond.sch.uk so that we can support you to apply for free school meals.

3. Pedestrian crossing - countdown timings have been changed since the Christmas break and children have been witnessed dashing across the road as the countdown ends, the central island is a hotspot for accidents, we urge you to speak to your children about the dangers of this. We are addressing the matter in school and have raised a concern with the council, please do also contact the council if you so wish. We always encourage the use of the iron footbridge for the safest means of crossing.

4. Lost property - there is a huge amount of lost property at the school office, including uniforms, PE kits, coats, lunch boxes and water bottles. Please do come and look for items you may have lost or risk buying it back at the second hand sales!

5. There are multiple occasions every day where forgotten items are being dropped off to the office throughout the course of the day which is both disruptive and an inefficient use of staff time.

Please do double check you have everything packed in the mornings before leaving for school.

YEAR SIX CHOIR

This week our Year Six choir took part in one of the largest children's choir events in the world. After learning a set repertoire of songs and actions, our children got to perform alongside thousands of other children from up and down the country at the O2. As well as singing with their peers, the children got to record backing vocals for the legendary soul singer Heather Small on her song 'Proud.'Thanks so much to Mr Munn, Miss Cooper and Mrs Hunt, who accompanied our children, and their parents who helped make up the very appreciative audience. Thank you children for singing your hearts out. You were brilliant.

CAN YOU HELP US DURING WELLBEING WEEK?

Our Wellbeing Week is a real highlight in our St Stephen's calendar. This year it takes place w/c 6th February.

Organised by our PHSE Co-ordinator, Nicola Collins, we are currently working out our timetable of events. Previously, we have had wonderful sessions on the theme of wellbeing from our parents. We would love to do this again this year. Unfortunately, we cannot offer payment, but if you have a little bit of free time and could offer a session we would be most grateful. This could be a talk, demonstration or session for a particular class, year group or phase.

Previously we've had:

Kate Cox's therapy dog and nutrition talk

Worry Jar sessions with Mrs Butcher

Yoga sessions

Mindfulness sessions and more

If you have a specialist interest in wellbeing and can help during our Children's Wellbeing Week, please contact Miss Collins directly - colln002.318@lgflmail.org
