After two fabulous days of training on a variety of subjects, including writing, reading, maths, establishing and embedding routines and more, our staff were raring to go. We loved seeing our children back in school on Wednesday to start another action-packed academic year. For more pictures of our children on their first day back at school, go to page three.
We have some new recruits to our fantastic St Stephen's staff team. Let us introduce you.
Gina will be working with our children in Reception and Year One as a Teaching and Learning Assistant. Before joining us she worked for eight years at a forest school in Isleworth. An arts and crafts enthusiast, Gina is looking forward to helping with all things crafts-based in her new role.
Frankie is in her first year of teacher training, as part of the Teaching London scheme. She will be based in Year One for her year with us. Skiing and cooking are her out-of-school hobbies.
Jane joins us as a music and singing teacher. She will be running our choirs. In her lessons this term she will be singing with Year Four, teaching music in Reception and supporting Year Three with their strings lessons. Jane also works with the Richmond Music Trust, teaches the vocal curriculum for Ark Globe Academy and works for the Hounslow Music Service.
We are pleased to welcome Aurelie to our staff team. She will be working as a Teaching and Learning Assistant in Year Two. Previously, she taught French and worked with SEND children in a school in Worcester. In her spare time she loves to cook and play badminton.
We want to highlight the fantastic news that our recent inspirational visitor, paralympian Lauren Rowles MBE, won a gold medal in the mixed sculls event last Sunday. Lauren Rowles became the first woman to have won a rowing gold at three Paralympic Games. You can see footage of the interview she filmed at school last term for Sky Sports here and footage of her historic win on Sunday is available on Channel 4.
