What an outstanding performance from our Girls' Football team at the recent annual Borough Tournament! Fresh off a big league victory on Tuesday, the girls arrived full of confidence and demonstrated incredible teamwork and skill throughout the day.
The morning began with the initial group stage, where they faced Marshgate, Old Deer Park, Buckingham, and The Vineyard. The team delivered a stellar performance, finishing top of the group with three wins and one draw! Their defense was impenetrable, boasting eight goals scored and zero conceded—a fantastic start to the competition!
The level of challenge rose in the Cup group stage, but our girls tackled it head-on. Facing other top-placed teams including Hampton Junior, Heathfield, East Sheen, and St Mary’s, they continued to excel. They once again finished top of their group with three wins and a draw, truly scoring for fun!
This incredible run of victories led them into the Semi-Finals against Sheen Mount, another unbeaten side. Although the result wasn't what they hoped for, losing 3-0 to the eventual tournament winners, the team's achievement is immense.
Finishing in the top four schools across the entire borough is a huge accomplishment! They scored multiple goals throughout the day, conceding only in the semi-final, and were an absolute credit to themselves and our school.
Huge congratulations to the incredible team: Amelia, Alana, Eliza, Isabelle, Niamh, Saskia, and Annie! We are immensely proud of how they represented the school!
Does your child love football and want to improve their skills? We're excited to share details about the Brentford FC Football Development Programme. This high-quality programme welcomes young people of all abilities (and those showing potential) to receive excellent coaching at top facilities from FA and UEFA qualified staff.
A great feature is the structured development match programme against other professional club trusts (like Chelsea and West Ham), which takes place during holidays, ensuring no conflict with existing 'grassroots football' commitments. If you think your child might be interested in this player-centred pathway, you can find more information or register interest via their trial waiting list form on the Brentford FC website.
