CAFE SOCIETY WITH YEAR SIX
Our Year Six children and their French teacher, Madame Goalen, opened up a French cafe in the playground for parents and carers last Friday. It was the perfect way to test out their new found French speaking skills, as customers were not only treated to some delicious Gallic-style food, but also a drop or two of conversational French. A positive feast of crepes, baguettes, confiture, jambon, fromage, amongst others, was on offer. It was wonderful! Thank you to the Year Six team for helping our children prepare, to the parents who came and supported, our marvellous Madame Goalen but most of all to our young Year Six Francophiles. Vive la France!
FOOTY NEWS FROM FOSS
Last Saturday we re-ignited the St Stephen’s vs Orleans Primary School Annual 5-a-side football tournament. St Stephen’s had seventy three students register from Years Two through to Year Six! In order to encourage as many children as possible to participate this year, we introduced a new registration set up wherein any child wishing to participate could register and St Stephen’s coaches for each Year then organised the teams to try and create a balance within and between the teams. It was a scorcher of a morning. Fun was had both on and off the pitch. And St Stephen’s was lucky enough to bring the trophy home, now proudly displayed in the school Reception area.
Thank you to Lawrie Brand, Joe Gangemi and Alexis Student (Orleans) for organising the tournament! And thank you to all the coaches who volunteered their time on the day by managing a team:
Year 2 – Mark, Mustafa, Ian, Robin
Year 3 – Jason, Andy
Year 4 – Malcolm, Ermir
Year 5 & 6 – Paul, Bradley, Rachael, John, Tom
As always, we could not run these events without the support of our fantastic St Stephen’s School community.
And thanks to the Orleans OPPTA for being so much fun to work with. We can’t wait until next year’s re-match!
