Introducting our new staff
This term we are delighted to welcome new members of staff to our St Stephen’s community, and know you’ll join us in making them feel welcome.
We are also sending our very best wishes to Jo Rose, who has been Year 3’s Teaching Assistant, and begins her adoption leave - an exciting new chapter that we look forward to celebrating with her.
Sophie Reynolds - Year 1 Pankhurst Class Teacher:
I'm looking forward to being part of such a supportive and fantastic school, who have such great community values. I love early reading and phonics and can't wait to see the children use their new learning in their reading and writing.

Gloam - Jack Mackay
A book review by James B, Kamkwamba Class
Are you in Year 5 or 6? Do you like suspense and jittery books?
Well, I have the book for you!
Gloam is full of suspense as it tells the story of a babysitter.
Not your ordinary babysitter, but something so much more.
Find out if Gwen (the main character) is fooled like the other three...
If you have read a great book you'd like to recommend - write a review and give it to your class teacher.
Salty Scientists
Lau legends had a SUPER science lesson investigating what is a mixture and what is a solution. We explored oil and salt being mixed into water. Through our investigations, we recognised that some substances dissolve when you mix them with water. When the substance (salt) dissolved when combined with water, it created a solution. We know that the solution forms new properties (how cool). Interestingly, when we mixed the oil and water, the oil floated to the top, forming a mixture. We know that a mixture does not form new properties.
