YEAR THREE MAKES SOME FRENCH FRIENDS
MADAME GOALEN REPORTS ...
Our Year Three children had an exciting French lesson just before breaking up for Christmas - they spoke live to children in France and sang a French Christmas song!
Their classes are linked with two French classes in the village of Moncel-sur-Seille, not too far from the beautiful cities of Metz, Strasbourg and Nancy. Previously, pupils from both countries exchanged notes and drawings; did role plays and learned dialogues to be able to speak when they met.
On the day, both classes gathered in Thunberg class; six children were chosen in both countries to speak to each other. The questions flowed from both sides, with many Year Three children volunteering to answer, putting into practice what they have been learning in French. We finished off the session with songs in both French and English, with all the children joining in for the final verse!
What a great way to end the year; the children were buzzing afterwards, gaining confidence and a deeper understanding of the French language and using the target language for a purpose! Bonne année à tous!
