We took a team to Saturday's tournament in Hampton. As the games went on, despite a slow start, the team continued to grow throughout the morning. We were competitive throughout and showed some great football, especially during the latter games. Despite finishing fourth we managed to beat the eventual tournament winners in our final game, which really showed great perseverance. Well done Oliver, Eli, Freddie, Peyton and Alistair. A special mention to Jason who really supported us with our selection dilemma as many of the boys also had a club fixture.
International Master, Gavin Wall, runs chess clubs at school on Wednesday and Friday lunchtimes. Wednesday sessions are for Years One and Two and beginners, with Friday geared up for KS2 and more advanced players. If your child would like to join please contact Mrs Curran, our clubs administrator. Both clubs start at 12.30 and Gavin has asked if your Year One and Two children are members that you remind them on Wednesday about chess club. We always go and find them in the playground, but we don't want them to miss out. You never know, they could be Grand Masters of the future. It's all to play for!
If you were an avid watcher of the recent Women's World Cup coverage on ITV, and many of us were, you may have spotted some of our Year Six footy girls in the credits. ITV were looking for some young girls who play grassroots football to feature in the coverage and that's how Sybil, Hettie and Persey, who play for Twickenham Cygnets Football Club, got to show up regularly on our screens. ITV hopes that showing them will inspire other girls to take up football. Well done girls, you certainly are inspirational.
