A LOOK AT LOWRY WITH YEAR FIVE
Over the weeks, we are bringing you some shots of some of the astonishing artwork we are producing in school. Here we give you Year Five's versions of Lowry. Crafted in the limited, five colour palette, so beloved by the man himself and teeming with authencity. We are all so familiar with his matchstick figures and industrial skyscrapes that it is clear to see Year Five have captured the feel of his work perfectly. Before embarking on the final, painted version, the young artists spent time doing preliminary sketches and working on their figure drawing.

Taught by our wonderful art teacher, Ruth Garner, these are so inspirational. We caught up with our art co-ordinator and Year One teacher, Pam Gawn, to chat all things art at St Stephen's. "I have been teaching for twenty years, and I have never experienced such stunning art work as our children are producing at St Stephen's. Ruth and I are working hard on our art curriculum to ensure the children are gaining access to the very best art materials - good quality brushes, heavy cartridge paper and top grade paint and other other materials to ensure the end result inspires them. We are looking at a range of artists, including Lowry, David Hockney, Jo Steele and Barbara Hepworth to give our children a broad history of art education," explained Mrs Gawn.

This approach shows all our young artists can produce good quality work they can be proud of," continued Mrs Gawn.

LET THEM EAT CAKE!
A veritable feast for the eyes and the belly! Staff Appreciation week was rounded off with this cake laden table of delicious home baked sweet goodie, all washed down with a fine selection of teas and coffees. Our staff were overwhelmed by the wonderful week of pampering and so grateful to our loving and supportive parents. Thank you so much to Vicki Wills and FOSS for co-ordinating and all our lovely parents.
