SPORTING GLORY - ST STEPHEN'S WINS ALL THE LEAGUES
Be prepared for us to blow our own sporting trumpets. We have won our leagues in both girls and boys football, tag rugby and netball. Phew, that is quite a cache of trophies! In other sports, such as dodgeball, our Year Six dodgers clinched gold and in swimming our boys squad came first in the borough, while our girls came a fantastic fourth.
"This is so incredible, I am beyond thrilled and it is down to the amazing work of our sports coaching team, led so ably by Mr Cain. Special mention to Mr Conail and Miss Cooper who have contributed so magnificently to team development and have been pitchside at fixtures. However, the greatest praise must be heaped on our team members. The children have represented St Stephen's with pride and showed great sportsmanship. Well done to everyone involved. Coming up Mr Cain has lined up lots more matches. Our aim is for all our children to represent St Stephen's in a sporting fixture. " enthuses Mrs Bachour.
Last week a Year Five team took part in a Year Five and Six Dodgeball competition in Kensington. With some of our players representing St Stephen's in a sporting fixture for the first time, there were some nerves but even more excitement. The team did amazingly well, just missing out on the semi finals due to a draw in an earlier match. This was a great introduction for next year's Year Six fixtures. Well done Ben, James, Emil, Sassy, Alana, Ruzgar, Spencer and Remy. Please see the results table below:
7-3 win v Trafalgar
5-5 draw v Moorfield
8-2 lost v RA stars
8-2 win v Torriano Tigers
10-0 win v Selhurst
ALANA'S DODGEBALL REPORT
We worked together because when we had two or three balls we threw them at one particular person that either Mr Cain or the team decided on. Also, we decided as a team who would go for the ball in the middle and on the left. When it came to tactics, before the game we watched the teams we were about to play and looked out for who was more of a threat and what tactics to use.
We thought about what we could better next time and decided that when we only had one ball we would not go near the front and throw it and use to block instead. But apart from that we all felt we did really well.
