Can we remind you that it is fruit and veggies only for break time snacks. Here's a reminder of the guidance for parents: click on the link Morning Snacks Guidance for parents
Please note - not suitable: fruit tinned in syrup, dried fruit (eg raisins, sultanas) and processed fruit bars (eg wound up lengths of dried fruit, fruit flakes etc). These are high in sugar and can cause tooth decay, so are not suitable as between-meal snacks. Thank you for your co-operation.
Year Two enjoyed a fantastic drama workshop on their current, the Great Fire of London, topic. With just a few carefully chosen props, they re-enacted the whole event, from the birth of the blaze in Thomas Farrinor's Pudding Lane Bakery on September 2nd 1666 until the final flame was doused four days later. In the meantime landmarks, such as the majestic St Paul's Cathedral, fell victim to the all consuming fire. Mrs Chahil reports that the children, who are now experts on this subject, performed brilliantly and a good time was had by all. Drama is regularly used in lessons as it enables our children to gain a real empathy with a subject as well as improving self-confidence, expression and communication. As you can see from the pictures below, a good time was had by all. Puns aside, it is true to say this topic as really 'fired' their imaginations.
This week we traveled to the Vineyard School for our final league game of the season. To ensure qualification for the cup we needed to secure a win, nothing else would do. Following a very even first half we went in at the break with the score line at 1-1 thanks to Madi who finished off a very well worked goal. After a half time discussion on how we could try and dominate in the second half we grabbed a winning goal in the dying seconds of the game, thanks to an unbelievable volley by Hettie. The goal was well received by the excited St Stephen's supporters on the sidelines. Two fabulous goals and a real effort from the whole team. Unfortunately Florence was not available, however we welcomed back Sybil for her first game of the season after injury. Well done Hettie, Annie, Mollie, Sybil, Persey, Madi, Emi and, player of the match, Mila. We are so proud of you all.
