CHILDREN'S POSTER COMPETITION FOR SCIENCE WEEK

The British Science Week 2024 poster competition is open now!

The theme this year is TIME.  Children can create a poster showing how a certain type of technology has changed over time, or even the advancement of time-telling technology itself. Budding poster makers could also go futuristic to show how they think the world might look in years to come, or perhaps look at nature – lifecycles, lifespans, evolution and hibernation – nature is full of timely topics.

British Science Week 2024 marks the Week’s 30th anniversary. Children could think about scientific innovations since then, or explore 1994 itself – what was life like thirty years ago?

The form to submit your entries is here: British Science Week 2024 poster competition entry form

The closing date for entries is 6.00 pm on Thursday 28 March 2024.

Pairing up for some reading in Year Three

We're honing our fluency with lots of paired reading in Year Three. Our children were looking at non-fiction texts on the inspirational Malala Yousafzai. After taking turns at reading aloud to each other, they then skimmed and scanned to answer some comprehension questions.

ATTENBOROUGH TAKES TO THE STAGE

Year Five's Attenborough class took to the boards to present a parent-packed hall with a journey through their recent learning, highlighting all things Victorian.

Sports News

Tag Rugby - we won the league!

St Stephen's 10 (50) - 1 (5) St Elizabeth's

St Stephen's 3 (15) - 0 (0) Deer Park

Our Tag Rugby team is going from strength to strength, notching up a resounding win against St Elizabeth's. Hettie took the plaudits for player of the match with an amazing defensive performance. Indeed, not one player was able to get past her. In addition, Margaret and Alistair made their tag rugby debuts, slotting into the team beautifully. We finished the season as league winners and secured a place in the cup which will be played after Easter. Well done to all Seb, Hettie, Samuel, Margaret, Thomas, Isla, Alistair, Freddie and Eli.

Netball - league win against St Mary's

We travelled to local rivals St Mary's for our opening netball league fixture. The team has been working hard this term to get to the required level and we opened our league campaign with a hard fought 7-5 victory. Well done to Isla M, Isla H, Hettie, Eli, Zander, Albert, Mollie G, Hazel, and Zoe.
