After eight years at St Stephen's we were very sad when Joey Dale left us earlier this year to join the Fire Service. Well, the training went splendidly, and we are delighted to report that Mr Dale has now graduated and is a fully fledged firefighter. Mrs Dale, his proud Mum, took these photos for us and he has promised to visit soon to tell us about his new role. Well done Mr Dale, we are all so proud of you.
The provider of school nursing services in Richmond, CLCH (Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust) has introduced a quick and easy way to get in touch with the school nursing service.
From this month children and young people aged 11 to 19 and parents and carers of children aged 5 to 19 in Richmond can send a text message via ChatHealth, anonymously if they wish, to the school nurse to get confidential help and advice about a range of health concerns.
These include emotional health and wellbeing, bullying, sleep, bedwetting, behaviour, nutrition, support with medical conditions in school, sexual health, relationships, alcohol and drugs.

YEAR SIX AT HOOKE COURT
During their final school journey to Hooke Court in Dorset, our Year six children immersed themselves in all things World War One. This involved so many wonderful activities, including signing on as a soldier, marching, experiencing trench life and going over top. Although this was a very watered down version of the horror of life as a World War One conscript it did deepen their understanding of this war to end all wars. Back in the kitchen they prepared some food of the era and were very keen on their SPAM rations. They also cooked trout, scones, made their own jam and served as orderlies at the officers' mess dinner. Phew. That is not to mention some engineering work involving working out how to ford a river. Thanks to our amazing staff team who accompanied the children on this trip - group leader - Mrs Brown, Miss Cooper, Mrs Hunt, Miss Lamprell, Miss Downes and Miss Barnes. Special thanks also to Mrs Curran who organised the trip so beautifully back at base. More images next week and on page five ...
GOING FOR GOLD WITH YEAR ONE
It is so thrilling to achieve four gold awards in just one day. That means we have stayed on task, listened, shown exemplary behaviour and so much more. Quite rightly, our children love celebrating this fantastic achievement. Here some of our Year One children share their joy with a delighted Mrs Cuddy-Gibbs. Well done to them and all our golden winners. You make us very proud.
Monday September 30th - Friday October 4th - 3.40pm - 4.00pm (school playground)
We are delighted to announce that we will be holding another Scholastic Book Fair. This not only gives our children and parents a chance to buy some wonderful reading matter, but it is also a great way to support reading in school. Every time you buy a book you notch up reading credits for school, as Scholastic give us free books for our classrooms and library. This is the perfect way to help promote our bid to get each and every one of our children reading good quality books in and out of school. There is also a three for two book promotion on all books.
You may pay by card at the fair, via a card reader machine, or by using the online payment link at https://bookfairs.scholastic.co.uk/pay/1329995 and simply selecting your school from the drop down menu. If you are in receipt of additional pupil funding and would like your child to choose a free book, please contact your child’s class teacher.
The event will be held in our school playground (see above for timings). However, if it is raining on the day, we will move the book sale into one of the downstairs classrooms.
Thank you so much for your continued support of reading in school. We hope you get some fabulous books for your home libraries.
QUIET TIME WITH A GOOD BOOK FOR CURIE CLASS
Reading time in Year One. Every class has a session in the library each week, where they can choose a book to take home and enjoy some quiet time with their chosen tome.
