Newham Council Childcare Survey

The London Borough of Newham would like to hear from parents and carers about their childcare needs. Your views are important in helping us decide how to shape services that will be useful for you.

We are asking parents and carers in Newham whether they use childcare, how they use it, what they think about it and whether they would like to use more.

The questionnaire will take around 10 minutes to complete. The closing date for completion is 5pm on Friday 2nd December 2022. We are really keen to ensure your views are taken into account. Any parent completing the survey can opt in to be entered into a free prize draw for a chance to win £100 of shopping vouchers.

At the end of the questionnaire, there is an opportunity for you to request further information about funded early education, help with childcare costs and childcare providers in Newham.

Community Workshops - Newham Talking Therapies

Hello there

My name is Rhysha Gallo and I work in the outreach team of Newham Talking Therapies. I just wanted to share with you some WELLBEING WORKSHOPS we are running from October – December 2022. Please note these workshops will be held online via MS Teams and are roughly 1-hour long each.

Who can attend? All adults (+18) living, working or studying in Newham are welcome to attend – since we are an adult service, these workshops are aimed for your staff in school. For any differences in eligibility criteria, please see information below.

To register: You can self-refer using the online registration form: https://t.co/x9J3ePYpb8

A note about the registration forms: As a service, we are required to monitor access to Newham Talking Therapies. The forms are collected as evidence to show to commissioners the work we are doing as an NHS service and ensures we are able to continue to provide these workshops for free. The first part of the form will ask you to provide personal details. Please know that you should only disclose information that you feel comfortable sharing. For example, you can write down ‘N/A’ in sections where you don’t want to share personal information. The second half of the form is a series of questions related to your mental health & wellbeing. This help us to screen for individuals who might need additional support – if your responses indicate that you might benefit additional support, you will receive a call from us as a ‘check-in’ and think together about your wellbeing and how we can support you.

Information on Workshops – what are they all about?

Wellbeing workshops: We are running educational workshops on a range of wellbeing topics such as stress, how to improve sleep, food and mood etc.. – to see the full list, please check out the poster attached. Each workshop will offer useful, evidence-based information on a specific topic and provide general skills that can support a person in maintaining a healthy life. We also provide information about getting further support for mental health & wellbeing if needed. Please note that a person can only attend 1 wellbeing workshop per month.

LTC workshops: These 1-hour workshops are aimed for people struggling with and want information on how to manage a variety of issues or conditions such as: Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), Chronic Fatigue, Diabetes, Medically Unexplained Symptoms (MUS) Long-Covid, COPD & Respiratory, Chronic Pain…

Wellbeing workshops for staff: We run separate, monthly workshops inviting staff working in health, education and social care who are based in Newham reflect on their wellbeing and how this is impacting or being impacted by their work life – the topics we cover are the same as those in the community wellbeing workshops above (please see HSCE Workshops poster).

Women’s Wellbeing Workshop: We are running a one-off workshop inviting women from all walks of life to reflect about women’s health issues such as menopause, menstruation, endometriosis (and more!) and how this impacts their mental health and wellbeing.

Kind regards

Rhysha
