LKS2

Year 3

In year 3, we are learning about parts of a plant in science. We identified and described the functions of different parts of flowering plants, we did this through discussion and by feeling and looking at the plant in class.

We have also been working hard in Maths, looking at Place Value and understanding number.

Year 4

In year 4 we have been reading a book called ‘In our hands’ by Lucy Farfort. We have been discussing in class about our local environment and on Thursday we went to our local park to look for things that we do not usually notice.

Some of the things we spotted were: the moon in the sky, rubbish in the grass and between trees, cracks on the ground, the pattern in the tree bark, symmetrical, curvy and bent trees, low branches, logs in the middle of nowhere, uneven and dry grass, holes in the grass.

We also discussed the impacts of these: somebody might step on the log or the hole without noticing and trip, the rubbish is harming the animals, the red leaves are a sign of Autumn.

In Maths we have been focusing on place values of numbers up to a thousand, using manipulatives to help us represent four-digit numbers.
