Year 4 visit to France 2024
Year 4 visit to France 2024
Last Friday on the 7th of June, Year 4 and a few Year 6’s were lucky enough to travel to France for a one night residential trip. We arrived at school at 5:00am and took a coach to Dover. We were all very excited for the trip ahead.
Once we boarded, after a short delay, we explored the ferry with our group and took pictures on the deck of the boat. It was so windy on the deck that even some children’s hats blew off! But luckily nobody lost one. After roughly an hour and a half we returned to the coach and arrived on the shore of France at the port of Calais.
We then drove for around 45 minutes and arrived at a French school where we met our pen pals that we had written letters to. We got to know our friends in the classroom for a bit then we played outside together in the school playground, some played football, some chatted and some played other games like hide and seek. Once we said goodbye to our pen pals, we travelled to our hotel where we dropped our bags off and went for dinner. We had a 3 course meal consisting of a cheese pastry, nuggets, wedges and veg with a doughnut for dessert.
The following morning we had breakfast and then headed to Le Touquet. In Le Touquet we visited a very busy French market. At the market we were able to practise our French when buying souvenirs with our euros as well as trying some lovely treats! It was fun trying to use the skills we have learnt in our French lessons this year. Once we had finished in the market we headed down to the beach. It was a beautiful golden sandy beach. Some of us played in the sand and practised our gymnastics! It was then time to head back to the coach and we had to wait for Miss Lemard and her group as they were 15 minutes late!
We then made our way to the ancient town called Boulogne- Sur-Mer. Here we ate lunch on the bank of the old town. After lunch, we made our way through the large stone gate house and along the cobbled streets of the beautiful old town. We then purchased more souvenirs and treats from the many shops in the old town. We then headed back to the coach and sadly made our way back to Dover.
