We have been honoured to have your children in school and we are immensely proud of each and everyone of them. Lost Property - We have a large number of school jumpers that have remained unclaimed. These will be available on the playground during the last week of school. Please help yourself to these jumpers for you pupils. Once washed, these will be perfectly suitable to use as many are like new!
Goodbye and Good Luck - At the end of this year we bid farewell to Miss Reynolds. Miss Reynolds has been part of the St Helen's Community for many years. She was a pupil here herself and came back to work here as a Nursery Nurse after college. After 31 years of dedicated service to St Helen's, Miss Reynolds will be leaving to work closer to home and her family. We thank her for all her years of dedication to our community. We know she will stay in touch and we hope to see her soon!
We wish our amazing Year 6 Pupils all the best as they leave us, we know they will continue to shine as they move to secondary school. For those families who have their youngest child leaving us or are moving, we wish you well too. It has been a pleasure to have you all in the St Helen's Family. We hope that you keep in touch and come back to visit us! Read their favourite memories here!
Wishing you all a wonderful Summer and we can't wait to see you all in September.
Best wishes & God Bless

Sacrament of First Holy Communion
Pupils from St Helen's School and St Margaret's Parish received the sacrament of the Eucharist for the first time over the last 2 weekends. We keep all of these children in our prayers as they continue to grow in their faith and feel God's love and presence with them.
Family Fun Day
On Sunday 10th July we had our very first Family Fun Day for the School and Parish Community. We are so grateful for all of the volunteers for making it such a successful day. We had archery, face painting, music, food, bouncy castles, arts & crafts and a wet sponge challenge. We were also joined by PC Michael Sear and PC Chrissie Stanley from The Metropolitan Police Service Roads and Transport Policing Command, we were able to sit on the motorbike and set off the siren!
Chess Tournament
Mr Dybowski arranged a Chess Tournament on Saturday 9th July at St Helen's. The children have really worked hard throughout the year to build their skills and techniques with the great coaching from Mr Dybowski. We are very proud of the amazing achievements made in chess this year.
Highlights from Pre School
As the youngest pupils of St. Helen's wrap up their first year in the school here are a few things we've been doing the last few weeks. We made special awards for our Dad's to celebrate Father's day. We decorated our huge cookie so that they will know they're the best Daddy in the world!
We invited our wonderful Daddy's (siblings and mummy's were also there) to join us for a day to celebrate all they do for us. We got to share the fun things we do in our school with them and awarded them with their "Gold cookie medal of honour". We love our parents so much and need them to know how amazing they are and appreciate everything they do.
We have been learning about the jungle and the Amazon rainforest and looking at all the different animals that can be found. There are lots of birds that we've seen in videos, so we made some of our very own birds of paradise. We made them with lots of different coloured feathers and think they're so beautiful.
We have made a jungle smoothie with some tropical fruits that some of us hadn't tried before. It was made from pineapple, mangoes and bananas. We blended it up and enjoyed it at snack time. It was so yummy and refreshing. It kept us cool on a very hot day.
On sports day we got to watch and cheer on our siblings and older friends in the school as they competed in all the different events. It was great to see everyone have such a good time. We watched intently in preparation for when it's our turn! We're still in training but our coach Miss Cascayan said time will come when we show everyone what amazing athletes we are.
Our preschool garden has lots of pretty flowers growing as we have been working hard with the adults to look after it by watering them regularly and being careful where we play.
We always love going to our Forest School lessons with Miss Morgan as we learn about the outdoors. We had a special treat with a new tyre swing in the woodland area. We all get to have a go and share these fun moments with our friends. Thank you Miss Morgan for all our outdoor learning opportunities we've had over the year. All the children in pre-school love our lessons with you.
Highlights from Nursery
Every year we hold our annual family fun day complete with bouncy castles, face painting and a range of fun activities for all our families both current and new to St Helen’s. It is a great day to socialise in our nursery garden and one of our favourite events of the year.
Highlights from Reception
Reception classes have been very busy learning lots of new things ready for our new year 1 class in September; we have been learning how to code using the Kubots, practising our sentence writing using our sounds, and we have also been using objects to find odd and even numbers! We have also been using shapes to make different pictures. We have really enjoyed making up our own songs and performing them in our theatre role play area this term too.
Highlights from Year 1
Year 1 have been very creative over the past few weeks. They have designed computer games using online software. Children used emojis to make their characters and created fun environments for their game to be set in.
As part of our Arts week theme, Year 1 have been learning about the emotions ‘hungry’ and ‘excited’. We read the ‘Hungry Caterpillar’ and then made clay models of the caterpillar.
Highlights from Year 2
In our final assembly of the year, we spoke about all of our memories and achievements. We have had a fabulous time learning in year 2 and are grateful for all the opportunities we have been given. Some of our highlights include the Black History assembly, Leigh-on-Sea, Florence Nightingale Museum, watching the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and many more!
Highlights from Year 3
Year 3 visited The London Eye on Wednesday 6th July. They were so excited! They couldn’t believe the view from the top of The Eye and some children even thought they could spot The Eiffel Tower! They could see the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben and St. Paul’s Cathedral in the distance. The noise inside the pod was very loud because they were so fascinated by the amazing views.
Highlights from Year 4
The children in year 4 have enjoyed a variety of non-class based activities to support their learning.
They continued to develop their love for books visiting the library in Canning Town.
A music workshop gave children the experience of listening to musicians and also joining in enhancing their musical skills.
Sports day was energetic with children showing good teamwork and cooperation throughout.
A busy and fun filled end to the year!
Year 4 have had a fantastic last term to end a great year and have been taking part in some creative activities! They loved making 3D flowers as part of art and also enjoyed re-enacting the Viking Invasion through drama as part of our history lessons.
Highlights from Year 5
After a very busy year of learning, Year 5 enjoyed a special treat to Adventure Island.
It was fun but also a great opportunity to challenge ourselves on scary rides (teachers included!) and to be kind and supportive with each other.
Highlights from Year 6
It has been a busy week in Year 6. We've been hard at work practising for our upcoming production. The year group has so many talented dancers, singers and actors. We've also been on a transition day to meet children from other schools before we got to secondary school and we performed with 1000 other children at the Velodrome in The Olympic Park.
Goodbye & Good Luck Year 6
The Year 6 pupils put on an amazing end of year production - 'Do You Remember The First Time' . They worked so hard to learn the songs, dances, as well as their lines. They acted so well, and really did amazing impressions of each other, some staff and their parents.
We wish our Year 6 children all the best as they begin their new secondary schools in September. We know that they will continue to work hard and make us proud of them. They will make new friends, enjoy new experiences and grow in faith and knowledge.
We can't wait to hear all of their achievements and we hope they visit and stay in touch.
Highlights from some creative after school clubs
This year ‘The Sewing Kidz’ have embraced their creativity which has increased their autonomy and confidence. The children have produced intricate and wonderful designs! Over the weeks, we have improved our design and sewing abilities to bring our backpack designs to life! Consequently, moving forward - we can fix anything with our trusted needles and thread! (Fingers crossed)
These student-led lessons were the first of their kind at the school. The children produced lessons on various subjects that they freely taught to the whole class. It was an innovative opportunity to allow the students to take leadership of their education and the direction of the lesson. We were able to teach any lesson (within reason) individually or collaboratively – and our after-school club teacher even became one of our students. It’s clear that we have future football and basketball coaches, art teachers and nature enthusiasts! At the end of these lessons- our confidence improved as we can voice our opinions, research different topics and share our vast knowledge as we received praise and positive acknowledgement from everyone!
The Art Gallery - is an unique opportunity for the students to explore their artistic skills and creativity through different art styles. Over the weeks, we were experimental both inside and outside of the classroom to refine our special artistic styles! Initially, we looked at different art styles from around the world and moving forward we completed different art challenges using our methods and techniques. We even explored different ideas that we could use in our own comic strips. Most importantly, we had fun being as creative as we wanted!
