Newsletter 1st April 2022

Dear Parents & Carers,

As we start to approach the end of term, we wanted to share once again some of the highlights from the last few weeks as well as take this opportunity to remind you of some of the events coming up soon.

Easter Productions - Next week on Monday 4th April at 2pm we have the KS1 Easter Production and on Wednesday 6th April at 2pm we have the Year 3&4 Production. You are warmly invited to join us for these events if you are able to.

Mass - On Friday 8th April, we have our end of term Mass at 9am in the Convent Chapel. Again, you are most welcome to join us.

End of Term - School finishes at 1:30pm on Friday 8th April. We look forward to seeing you all again on Monday 25th April.

Clubs - This is the last week for clubs this week - there will be no after school clubs next week (week of 4th April). Year 6 Booster Classes will continue next week. Breakfast Club and 6 O'Clock Club continue to run as normal. We will be sending information about the Summer Term Clubs to you soon.

Swimming - We are in the final stages of planning our Swimming for the Summer Term. We are very excited to be able to have a pool on site to teach swimming! With the help of the FOSH and parental contributions fund, we are hiring a large pool for 5 weeks. This will be on the Basketball Court and will be covered. All pupils will have a chance to use the pool and have lessons with a trained coach. Our main focus will be year 5 pupils, they will have daily lessons to hopefully ensure they can all swim by the end of the project! Children will need swimming wear, a towel, a dressing gown & sliders/flip-flops (to wear when walking to the pool from the classroom). More details of; the programme, dates, information on what the pupils need, will be sent out next week.

As always, if there is anything you need help with, want to discuss or need a friendly face - we are here to help! If you have any concerns or worries whether related to school or not, we are always happy to hear from you.

With love and Blessings

Ukraine Appeal - we had an overwhelming response from families and staff to our Ukraine Appeal. We loaded up our boxes and took them to West London last Friday for delivery to Poland last weekend. Your generosity was gratefully received and our small gestures will make a huge difference to those in need. Those who sent in money, this will be used to buy much needed First Aid Kits. Our School Council helped to to load up the mini bus.

Our biggest thanks goes to Miss Miranda - she worked tirelessly for many evenings after school to gather all of the donations and box everything up. She also made contact and arranged for the delivery. Along with Miss Morgan, they delivered all of the boxes.

Nursery - Drawing God's Wonderful World

We have been learning about God's wonderful world and how our actions affect it. We are really trying to be better citizens and look after all the wonderful things and spaces God gave us. We decided to draw what we could out of our windows and from the balcony.

Nursery - During Science Week we looked at growing as a topic, what things grow, how they grow, what they need to grow and how we can help things to grow. One of our stories was Oliver's Vegetables - he loves chips and so do we. We made our own vegetable crisps using the air-fryer.

Nursery - To finish off our Traditional Tales focus, Mr Holt and Miss Burch dressed up as characters from one of our stories. Can we guess who they are?

Year 2 have been busy searching for human and physical features in our local area. We used the iPads to take photos of what we found.

Year 2 made the most out of the sun and decided to take their reading book outside. It was great to listen to a story in a different setting!

In PE, Year 2 have been working on their agility and balance during their gymnastics lessons.

Year 4 - As part of Science focus week, children investigated solids and liquids. They made slime - changing variables to observe the state of change.

Year 5 - recreated a freeze frame of the painting 'The Last Supper' during their religion lesson. Children represented the complete and incomplete life cycle of animals. They have also visited the library and the theatre.

Year 6 really enjoyed their writing journeys for Shakespeare. Pupils acted out a Winter's Tale in order to learn about the characters. They then used their illustration skills in order draw their favourite characters. Next, they used descriptive language to describe their favourite Shakespearean characters. Finally, pupils edited and wrote outstanding character descriptions.

Pupils worked in partners and enjoyed revising their maths skills together. Pupils are now super confident with time, roman numerals, angles, fractions and decimals.

Rainbow & Brownies - A message from a local Brownie Leader

Does your daughter like having fun, learning new things and making new friends?

Girl guiding has been giving girls and young women a space where they can be themselves, have fun, build brilliant friendships and gain valuable life skills for over 100 years.

I myself have been a part of Girl Guiding for 25years, starting Brownies at the age of 7, moving on to guides, becoming a young leader and then a qualified leader. Being a part of Guiding; has not only taught me to be confident, strong and independent, it has also introduced me to opportunities I may have never experienced otherwise. Being part of Girl Guiding is like belonging to a family that consists of over 320,000 members around the UK. And many thousands more around the world.

I’m one of the leaders of the local Brownie unit which is nearly 100 years old. I’m also a leader at a Rainbow unit , which opened in September 2021.

You can find out more about what we do at www.girlguiding.org.uk

Rainbows is for girls aged 5-7year olds and Brownies for 7-10 year olds.
