Year 2 have been reflecting on the emotions of courage and fear and exploring how these emotions can be represented in Art. With this in mind we have painted a picture of a lion using the techniques taught to us during our art’s workshop with water paints to represent courage, and reproduced the famous art work entitled ‘The Scream’ by Edvard Munch with oil pastels. We looked at the word ‘man’ which means to follow your deepest desire in Hindi, and with this in mind we drew a ‘a poster of wants’ representing what we want to be courageous enough to achieve in the future.
The word ‘Man’ took us on a journey to India where we researched its population, cultures and religions as part of our homework/Geography project. We also listened to an Indian song and drew a sound map to represent the emotions and memories the music inspired. In English we have been focusing on a story from India called ‘The Old Woman and the Pumpkin’, and wrote a character description based on the attributes of the old woman who was fearless and courageous. Lastly we have created a dance to an Indian song which we will perform at the carnival.
