6TH GRADE

We started our novel Refuge. Great story, have the kids tell you about it as they read. I have assigned the first 3 chapter to be prepared for Wednesday. We will read on our own the assigned chapters and discuss and do work in class. THey all have been given a book or some already had a copy at home.

English: we are working through Chapter 3 in our book...adjectives.

This week we are completing sections 3.8, 3.9h 3.10, 3.11... Then we have an adjective review.

Orange vocabulary book...Unit 5 due November 20

Orange Vocabulary Book test on Unit 4 November 14.

Monsters are Due on Maple Street test is Today

We are working in our workbook on in English book and workbook. Chapter 4.  We are going in order: 4.5,4.9,4.10,4.11. Then we will do the review starting next week.

Reading: We took our test on Rain Rain Go Away Today.

We will start another story this week,

Blue vocabulary book section 4 test Friday and section 5 is due Friday.

5th grade will be having a test tomorrow on Unit two in the Vocabulary Workbook (blue)

5th grade has Vocabulary Workbook Unit 3 due  Friday

5th grade is working on finishing the noun chapter...then on to Pronouns

We are reading SOR Losers...a cute story about a soccer team who does not mind loosing because they  are good at other things.

The children will be working on work sheets for this story

6th Grade has a book report due October 5 for 5 extra points or October 10 with no extra credit.

Vocabulary Workbook (orange one) Unit 3 is due Friday...Also a test on Friday for vocabulary Unit 2.

6th grade is working on Pronouns and reading the tale by Mark Twain; The Californian's Tale. The will be doing several worksheets and a pretty extensive vocabulary list to learn. Great Story, several twists to understand.

6th grade is my homeroom. I teach 5th and 6th grade English and Reading and Religion to my homeroom. You should also ask your student to give you access to their Google classroom pages where spcific work and messages for their class.

For this week both Reading classes are learning genres of literature and then we are going to start on Poetry. Currently we are not using the reading book for 5th grade. I assign stories and novels. 6th grade will be using all kinds of materials for reading. It will be fun.

In English we are starting on Grammar...NOUNS.

Religion for 6th is having a test tomorrow Thursday on Unit 1, Section 1. We reviewed today with a review guide.

September 13 -20

7thGrade:   We love Slam Poetry....which is a narrative poem performed. 7th has a poem due next week. I'd love if they can perform the poem as we have watched videos, of middle schoolers competing in contests. Extra credit points to any student who will perform their poem. Poem due September 18

7th grade: we are also working on parts of figurative speech. Most finished the work in class but several still have to complete before Monday which is the due date.

7th grade:  Book report due 9/30/24

6th Grade Reading They have a book report due 9/30/24. At this point they should be almost finished with the book. I have handed out the forms for the report to be completed. Best cursive or printing. Neatness Counts

6th grade: We still are working on I Ready Diagnostic Tests. We should all finish this upcoming week. THIS IS NOT A HOME ASSIGNMENT. Must be done in school.

6th grade ENGLISH TEST on Tuesday 9/17/24 (School Photo Day) On nouns. Our review took longer than anticipated. Please make sure your child studies.

6th Grade: we are creating poetry. We are writing all kinds of poems. Couplets and Haikus were created for our poetry wall! We have much more to learn about poetry and figurative parts of writing.

We are getting so busy in both classes, 5th and 6th.

This Wednesday we will dismiss at 1:45 for teacher meetings. On Friday 9/26 we will have no school for 

students. The teachers are attending training.

Tuesday 5th grade will be having a vocabulary and content test on the story THE ELEVATOR. They have a copy of the story of course and I gave them the vocabulary words. There are only 10.

I will give them a worksheet to do in class based on Unit 2 in their blue vocabulary books.

I will introduce a new story this week, when they are ready.

6th Grade: Just regular classwork this week. We have the morning Masson October 10. The children have already signed up positions in the Mass. We will be practicing soon.

6th grade will be presented with a worksheet for Chapter 2 in their vocabulary worksheet. They will complete in class.
