Thursday, May 14th

We have four days of learning this week. Friday we do not have lessons. The school is sharing a special Walk-a-thon video with us to watch this day instead. Make sure you check your email on Friday for our special video!

  • Morning Meeting - I will be on FlipGrid for morning meeting on Monday! See you then!!

  • Phonics- We are using the same sort, but if you have not gotten a chance to print it, I made a video of me teaching the sort. I attached another beginning sound sort. Please print the sort and have your child cut and sort by the beginning sounds of the pictures. They might need a little bit of help with the names of each picture. Sarah and I were doing this yesterday and I can't believe how well she did. You can even save these sorts to practice occasionally during the summer. It will help your child remember letter and sound recognition.

Then complete the "Order by Height" paper in the May Packet by helping your child to arrange the buildings from shortest to tallest and then glue them on. If you have already done this page you can grab a handful of objects from around the house and have your child practice ordering them by length or height.

  • Read Aloud - Knuffle Bunny by Mo Willems

Another book by Mo Willems. He is one of my favorite authors! Do you have a favorite object like Trixie does in the story? How would you feel if you lost it? I'd be so sad! Share your favorite friend with me on FlipGrid if you want to! https://flipgrid.com/rusnak

  • Religion - Our new chapter is all about how God made animals. Listen to the song "If I were a Butterfly." We are going to try to sing this song at our Zoom JrK Graduation on the 21st.

Happy Walk-a-Thon Day!

We have four days of learning this week. Friday we do not have lessons. The school is sharing a special Walk-a-thon video with us to watch this day instead. The Walk-a-thon will be in the form of a drive-thru "hello" this year and will be held on Tuesday this week. I can't wait to see everyone there!!

  • Morning Meeting - I will be on FlipGrid for morning meeting tomorrow! See you then!

  • Sight Word Lesson- Have your child listen to the lesson about our new sight word LIKE. Afterwards, help your child write "I like to __________, using our new word. If they can add to the end to finish the sentence GREAT! If not, they can just write "I like to...." and draw. Illustrate what you like to do! Share it with me on FlipGrid. https://flipgrid.com/rusnak

  • Read Aloud - The Color Monster I love this book! It teaches about emotions and how we feel when our emotions get all mixed up. I can only imagine how the kids feel. We watched a video of this story before but I wanted to read it to them this time. Encourage your child to talk to you about how they are feeling.

  • Religion - Our new chapter is all about how God made animals. Listen to the song "If I were a Butterfly." We are going to try to sing this song at our Zoom JrK Graduation on the 21st.
