What Is Accelerated Reader (AR)?
Three times a year, we give students the STAR Reading Test online to help them find books that are just right for their reading skills. Parents get a report with a ZPD, which shows the range of books their child should pick from. This level isn't the same as a grade level - it's the best level for each student's individualized learning.
They earn points by taking quizzes on books they've read. The number of points depends on the book's level and how many questions they answer correctly. When students take an AR test, the program recommends similar books that cater to the students' ZPD level and interest.
Students keep earning points every year they're at our school. When they reach certain point levels, they join the Accelerated Reader Point Club and get rewarded with different prizes.
If they reach 250 points, their name and picture go on the AR Wall of Fame in the library. At 500 points, the students move up on the Wall of Fame that showcase their reading abilities.
If they get over 1,000 points by 8th grade, they get a special recognition at graduation. It's a fun way to encourage more reading!
We celebrate students who do well in the Accelerated Reader program once a month during the morning assembly, everything third Monday of the month.
If your child has their own personal books that they would like to take a test on, they must check ARbookfind.com to see if the book has an AR quiz that they can take at school.
Students may only take AR quizzes at school.

Renaissance always welcome quiz suggestions from our customers through the "Suggest Quizzes" feature on Accelerated Reader BookFinder™.Book availability and popularity are key factors in our selection process. The final decision to develop a quiz is made by Renaissance. Some books may not be suitable for quizzes due to various reasons.
