Dear Devotee, Namaste!
I want to take this opportunity to thank you, and your family for being involved with Sri Siva Vishnu Temple (SSVT). Despite the challenges we have faced from the COVID-19 pandemic, we are blessed and grateful for your support, and we pray that God continues to bless you and your family with peace, prosperity, and good health.
The COVID-19 pandemic has been difficult for everyone; from organizations, like our temple, to families, like yours - it has impacted us in unexpected and challenging ways. It has tested us all and many of us have experienced personal losses. However, through it all, your continued generosity has helped our temple support our community, and plan for the future.
SSVT has strived to continue operations and provide puja services to all devotees - through in-person and online platforms (Zoom, YouTube, and Facebook livestreams). We continued daily in-person puja services, held the Hariharaatmaja Mahotsavam to celebrate the 26th Anniversary of the Ayyappa Kumbabhishekam - where the Panchaloha Kavacham for the 18 Holy Steps were installed/unveiled. This year, we also improved our temple grounds - revitalizing the children’s playground, flower beds, and starting a vegetable garden. Although we did not have in-person educational and cultural programs, much programming was conducted online through Zoom, YouTube, and Facebook. Our operations are dependent on generous donors, puja sponsorships, and personal puja services for devotees. Your contribution ensures a continuity of services to all.
At this time, I humbly request you to consider supporting our temple again. As we approach the end of the year, I know there are many organizations you may be considering to support, and I hope SSVT is one such organization.
We understand that overall financial circumstances may be difficult for you - however, no amount is too small. Your tax-deductible contribution will help us help you to a renewed new year of spirituality, connection, and well-being.
The funds we raise will go towards numerous efforts - but overall, 30% will be go towards Operation costs, such as employee salary expenses; 30% will go towards mini-projects, such as improving priest housing accommodations, improving perimeter security, continue to upgrade temple infrastructure including lighting; and 40% will go towards our temple endowment - to guarantee long-term financial stability for the temple.
You can donate in many ways. This year we established several small-scale project funds (a complete list is on our website). This includes the Priests Children Education Fund (PCEF). As you know, a few of our priests have high-school and college-going children. To help offset the costs of college, PCEF was established as a means for you to contribute directly to support our Priests. College is expensive, and anyway our temple can help with the costs is a sign of our commitment to our priests and their families. You can also donate through our Annual and Lifetime Puja Sponsorship program - varying from $301 per year up to $30,001 for lifetime sponsorship to your Ishta Devatas.
Finally, I would like to personally invite you to our Annual Fundraising Weekend from December 3rd to the 4th, 2021. The event consists of Aashirvaada by our Pradhana Acharyas, devotee participatory puja (click here for more details), and a special Srinivasa Kalyanotsavam on the morning of December 4th. A highlight of the weekend festivities is our Annual Fundraising Gala on December 4th, in the evening. This virtual (via Zoom) event is an opportunity for all of us to meet and enjoy performances by Padma Bhushan Smt. K. S. Chithra & party, as well as Mahesh Raghvan & party. K. S. Chithra is a renowned Indian playback singer and Carnatic musician. With over four decades in the film world, she has recorded over 25,000 songs in 14 Indian languages and 6 foreign languages. She will be performing film songs from all four south Indian languages and Hindi. Mahesh Raghvan is a Carnatic music fusion artist and is known for playing Carnatic music on an iPad. He will perform a fusion of Pop music and filmy music into Carnatic style. Another highlight of the Gala is a week-long online auction from November 26 to December 4, 2021. We are auctioning off various sarees, salwars, dhotis, other clothing items, as well as Washington Wizards basketball tickets, Washington Capitals hockey tickets, and a weekend rental at Deep Creek Maryland. We will also have jewelry pieces and other items available - just in time for the holiday season!

Thank you again for your generosity. Your tax-deductible contribution of any amount will help our temple serve the Hindu American community, and the at-large Washington D.C. region. May the Gods and Goddesses of Sri Siva Vishnu Temple always bless you, your family, and your friends in good health!
