The main purpose of the The Yearbook Club at South Shore Tech is to produce the school's annual yearbook. With this goal in mind, students who join the Yearbook club will work on photography, writing, and editing. Students also assist in designing the pages of the yearbook.
Yearbook Club provides students with the opportunity to assist in yearbook sales, photography and design. Students help to promote yearbook sales by making posters and distributing yearbook information.
To allow the Yearbook Club the time necessary to meet our publishing deadlines, senior photos are due by Friday, December 1, 2023. Please mark your calendars and schedule photo shoots early to meet this deadline. The summer is a great time to take a portrait, and many professional photographers are booking appointments now.
Please note that professional photos are not required, but they should be clear and not too far away from the subject. Some students can have family members/friends take their senior pictures. We will print the school ID photo for students who don't submit an alternate photo.
Photos must be high-resolution (i.e. will be big and have a large file size) and submitted digitally as a .jpg, .png, or .heic file via email to sstyearbook@ssvotech.org
Photos should be in portrait orientation (vertical). If landscape (horizontal) photos are submitted, they will be cropped by our staff. This will affect the background and, ultimately, the look of the photo. Please keep this in mind.
The exact size of the printed images won't be known until the Club begins designing the book. We will crop and/or resize your photo as needed, and at the discretion of the yearbook staff. For the past few years, photos have been mostly square.
Do not submit multiple images. Just submit the single image that you would like for us to use.
Please use the subject line "studentlastname, studentfirstname" - for example John Smith would be submitted as Smith, John. Please name the photo the same way.
Please DO NOT send screenshot of a photo on your cell phone.
Photos that don't adhere to these standards may be excluded from the yearbook. If a photo is not received, we will use their student ID photo.
If your photographer is submitting the image, contact them to confirm that they did. Also be sure they submit the photo you requested.
Yearbooks will go on sale in September 2025. Further information will be sent out at that time.
Photos and questions should be sent to Mr. Stephen Culp, Graphics Teacher and Yearbook Advisor, at sstyearbook@ssvotech.org.
A confirmation email will be sent to the person who submits the portrait. An email might also be sent to that person if there is an issue with any image submitted. Please note that it can be some time to receive a submission confirmation. It may take longer to inform the sender of an issue.
