Job Title: Structural Steel Welder
Job Description:
Lab9 Modular LLC is seeking to establish a robust portfolio of project types including multi-family construction, hospitality, senior living, student housing and healthcare projects. In this role the welder will consistently produce quality welds and perform other associated tasks. Applicants must have demonstrated experience in welding not only in steel and miscellaneous metals as well. The welder will have a thorough understanding of weld symbols on shop drawings. This position requires productive individuals with a high aptitude in shop drawings and experience with the tools of the trade and basic troubleshooting skills.
Responsibilities:
Fit structural steel pieces based on blueprint drawings
Lays out, positions, and secures parts and assemblies according to specifications
Weld pieces as needed
Verifies welding results by inspecting welds
Documents actions by completing records
Maintains safe work environment by following procedures, complying with legal regulations
Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions, performing preventive maintenance, calling for repairs
Accomplishes manufacturing and organization mission by completing related results as needed
Overhead crane operations
Skills/Experience:
Ideal candidates will have a minimum of 2+ years’ experience as a Structural Steel welding
Must have welding certification or be willing to attain it prior to joining
Must be committed to organizational safety
Must understand basic welding concepts
Must be able to commute to manufacturing plant

Job Title: Manifold Fabricator-Welder
SUMMARY : Perform metal fabrication and specialized welding techniques in the manufacturing and building of electronic manifolds and valves installed on truck trailers and ISO skids.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS : The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or ability required:
Materials & Products - Stainless steel, oxygen cleaning solvents used to clean and weld. Must understand the metal properties and pretest material for quality Valves, metal tubing, electronic manifolds, bull plugs, fittings.
Equipment - TIG and ARC welder, Orbital welder, cutoff wheels, grinders, small hand tools, tube cutters and tube facers, mirrors, sandpaper.
Procedures - Follow blueprints and product specifications to bend, shape and fabricate manifold tubing system. Cut and clean and purge tubes, valves and manifolds, align and secure in place for welding. Align Orbital welder for “weld in place” fastening of valves and bull plugs into tube bushing manifold. Using TIG welder, weld valves and hardware into tube bushing manifold of new and used chassis; truck trailer and ISO skid parts.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING TIME
High school or Technical school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Certified AWS/ASTM Welding in MIG & TIG. Orbital welding a plus.
Certified use of overhead crane and Hazmat training
ACCOUNTABILITY
Complexity
Accurate alignment of metal tubing, the positioning of the orbital welder and the quality of the weld. Uses shop math to calculate cut lengths and pigtail dimensions.
Knowledge of required heat levels for welds and ability to weld in place.
Calibration of machines used
Latitude of Judgment
Responsible for laying out own work and accurately checking dimensions and tolerances, setting up the job and selecting the proper tools to achieve the desired tolerances, and surface finishes.
Inspects own work without oversight. Some decision making capability with questions to higher level Supervisor.
Receives clear work assignments from the supervisor and works from well defined blueprints and punch sheets.

Physical Demands Efforts
Frequently lift and or move up to 50 lbs by themselves, or heavier with crane/hoist support or assistance. Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, feel and reach.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include: close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration and hoses carrying high pressure compressed gases in the assembly area. The employee is occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions; extreme cold (non- weather) and extreme heat (non-weather).The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
Various PPE devices & equipment such as cotton/leather/cut resistant gloves, welder’s glove and chemical gloves, safety shoes, hearing protection, safety hats, and welders face shield and safety glasses required.

Job Title: Fitter Foreman
Job Description: One of the fastest-growing structural steel bridge and marine fabricators in Massachusetts is currently looking for an experienced leader in structural steel and aluminum fabrication.
Job duties include the following:
The right candidate will be responsible for the layout, fit, and weld of various steel components for structural, bridge, and marine markets to detail drawings, written procedures, and specifications. They will be responsible for their team of 4-5 welders and fitters on any given project.
They must be able to properly handle, cut, process, and manipulate steel using standard fabrication machinery, overhead cranes, lifts, and thermal cutting equipment. Must be able to work productively and to a high standard of quality.
The right applicant must be able to stand for long hours and will be required to occasionally lift parts or components up to 70 lbs. They must be able to work safely, wear required protective equipment at all times, and comply with all current safety procedures to maintain a safe working environment for all employees and themselves.
Requirements to apply:
10 years of experience in heavy steel fabrication, welding, and cutting.
Previous certifications or documented training are a plus.
Experience in AISC/AWS and other required QA/QC procedures.
Occasional overtime is required. Occasional site work and installation are required.
