Technical Assistance

Many online resources require that you are signed into your sstx.org Google account. If you are not able to access a service or document, verify that you are using your school account and not a personal account.

If you have questions about an assignment, or if you can't access a document that your teacher provided, please contact the teacher.

If you can not sign into a web service (EdPuzzle, VoiceThread, etc) verify that you are using your sstx.org Google account. If you are still not able to access the service, email TechSupport@sstx.org. Please include specific information about which service you are trying to access and what error messages you see.

EdPuzzle

Teachers can sign up for EdPuzzle using this link and choosing the sign in with Google option. Or if teachers just visit Edpuzzle.com and sign-up for a Teacher account with their school google credentials, they'll just have to select "St. Stephen's Episcopal School" on the "Choose your School" screen and they'll be automatically upgraded.

If prompted, you may consent to terms and conditions on behalf of your students.

After verifying their email, teachers will be able to import their Google Classrooms on the "My Classes" page, and then import their students.

As long as teachers have imported students from the "Students" tab in "My Classes" for each of their Google Classrooms, students won't need to sign up at all – When they click an Edpuzzle assignment from Google Classroom they'll just sign-in with their Google account.

Some students have reported problems using EdPuzzle (video won't start or can't answer questions). If that happens, open a Guest window in Chrome and sign into Classroom from there. See screenshot to the right. Click your image or initial in the top right corner of the Chrome window, then click Guest.

EdPuzzle assignments can be linked to LMS assignments. See how in this video.

VoiceThread

VoiceThread is a web-based service that allows a student or teacher to create a presentation of images and add a narration. Others in the class can add voice comments. You can see an example recorded by a student at another school.

The school has a license for all students and teachers. Access it through the Application Launcher on any Google page. You will be prompted to authenticate with your school Google account.

Using a Virtual Whiteboard

A virtual whiteboard is available through SMART Notebook. This program is useful for teachers who want to record a whiteboard screen with Screencast-o-matic or "draw on the board" during class.

SMART software has more features but takes some practice.

1) Create an account - http://suite.smarttech.com - sign in with your school Google account.

2) Download the software and install

3) Click here for "how-to" videos on using SMART Notebook.

Use the Web Paint extension for simple annotations on a webpage displayed in Chrome. This works only on web pages in Chrome. (Google Docs and Sheets are web pages.)

Google Canvas (canvas.apps.chrome)

Google Jamboard works in your browser. Jamboard has fewer features, but is quicker to start and easier to use. Files you create in Jamboard appear in Google Drive, and can be shared to others.

See this YouTube video to see how to use Slides and Jamboard together to allow live annotation of your slides.

Collaborative Whiteboard

AWW Online Whiteboard allows for two people to work on a shared whiteboard together. This site is useful for a teacher to use with a student during a conference.
