OCCRRA Credit Now Available for OLAC Module:

OLAC’s Leadership for Early Childhood Care and Education module recently received the Ohio Approved (OA) Designation.

This module bridges the division in its treatment of early care and education leadership. In particular, it takes the view that elementary principals—who in Ohio need to have no experience or training in ECE or childcare—have something to learn from those outside the school system who care for children from birth to age 3 or 4. And, it also recognizes that school principals can help promote the position that society needs to direct much more attention and resources to the care of young children and their families.

Once you complete the module, submit to the Ohio Child Care Resource & Referral Association (OCCRRA) to receive credit! Explore the free module

Early Care and Education Apprenticeships Webinar

The Department, the Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) Administration for Children and Families, and Office of Early Childhood Development, and the Department of Labor hosted a webinar on strategies and approaches to address critical shortages in the early care and education workforce through apprenticeships.

The Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support (PBIS) professional development course available through OH|ID portal

The Department recently released the course Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) Video Series: Fidelity Inventory, Data-based Decision Making and Supporting the Needs of the Whole Child in the Learning Management System to benefit both new and experienced schools and districts with Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) implementation. Through interviews with Ohio educators, this course showcases best practices and community partnerships that support PBIS implementation. Interviews include success stories and challenges Ohio’s educators experienced with the Tiered Fidelity Inventory, data-based decision making and supporting the whole child through PBIS implementation.

This self-paced course is available on demand through the Learning Management System, which is accessible to licensed educators through the OH|ID portal. Prior to completing this course, participants are encouraged to preview and complete the existing course titled PBIS: It Takes the Whole Building.

Design for Every Learner

The ED-funded TIES Center, in collaboration with Center for Applied Special Technology (CAST) and the Lake Washington School District in Washington, released a set of learning modules to help educators learn more about Universal Design for Learning. The modules support educators in designing learning experiences that are inclusive for each and every learner. Specific examples illustrate how instruction can be designed to be inclusive of students with significant cognitive disabilities.
