Student-Initiated Projects

A Student-Initiated Project has to be student-led, where students propose what service they would like to carry out and are directly involved in the liaising with an external Voluntary Welfare Organisation (VWO) that they choose to work with . The role of a Teacher mentor is to guide the students in terms of feasibility and reliability of the project, as well as conduct reflection sessions.

Criteria of a Student-Initiated Project:

• Student research and identify community need
• Student research on Voluntary Welfare Organisation (VWO) to collaborate with and liaise with them directly.
• Student manages all aspects of the project: finances, logistics, programmes etc., under guidance of teacher mentor

Students who wish to initiate a Service Project in SST must fulfil the following criteria:

Group Members:

• Individual or in a planning committee group (exco) of maximum 5 students.
• Are Upper Secondary Students. Students are encouraged to initiate projects with members of the same level.

Academic

• Attained at least 60% in overall results in Semester 2 2017

Co-curriculum

• At least 80% attendance in CCA in the past two years
• Served the community for at least 16 hours in the past 2 years

Follow the process stated in this Student-Initiated Project Proposal Google Document Template, fill it up and submit by the deadline stated in the proposal template:

1. Make a copy and label file as “Student-Initiated Service Learning Project Form_(name of group leader)”
2. Give “anyone can comment” rights.
3. Submit completed Student-Initiated Service Learning Project Form via this Google Form (file size maximum 1GB) by the deadline stated in the proposal template.

For Students who wish to initiate a Service Project related their CCA, approach your CCA teachers. You will have to fill in a different proposal form.
