"A trauma response is the nervous system’s way to keep your body safe in situations that the body interprets as threatening due to past experiences. This can differ greatly from person to person:
For some, a trauma response is to fight and react in an aggressive or violent manner.
Others will try to escape situations that trigger trauma to avoid activating the emotional patterns that feel hurtful and unsafe.
It is also possible to freeze and dissociate from the body, almost like creating a dreamy state of ignorance to the real-life situation, just to avoid feeling hurt.
People pleasing can also be a learned trauma response and a way to avoid conflict and triggering emotions."
Are you aware of your own trauma responses or patterns when you get triggered?
