Founded in 1967, the Swiss Society of Neuropathology (SSNPath) represents the discipline of neuropathology across Switzerland. SSNPath brings together neuropathologists, general pathologists, neuroscientists, and medical trainees dedicated to advancing the study, diagnosis, and treatment of neurological diseases.
SSNPath promotes clinical and experimental neuropathology across diagnostics, medical education, and research. Key objectives include:
Education & Certification: Organizing the postgraduate training curriculum and board examinations for the Interdisciplinary Subspecialty in Neuropathology under the Swiss Institute for Medical Education (SIWF/ISFM).
Advancing Expertise: Disseminating specialized knowledge in brain, nerve, and muscle pathology through scientific meetings, workshops, and interdisciplinary dialogue.
Supporting Trainees: Fostering the next generation of physicians and researchers through dedicated mentorship, networking, and reduced membership fees.
Professional Representation: Safeguarding the professional and socio-political interests of members within the Swiss healthcare landscape.
SSNPath fosters international scientific exchange and represents Swiss neuropathology as an active member of the International Society of Neuropathology (ISN), the European Confederation of Neuropathological Societies (Euro-CNS), and the Swiss Federation of Clinical Neuro-Societies (SFCNS).
Membership is open to clinicians, researchers, and trainees who share an interest in advancing neuropathology in Switzerland.
