Welcome to the AR/VR lab of the Centre for Healthcare Technologies, Department of Biomedical Engineering, SSNCE
The AR/VR Lab of the Center for Health Technologies (CHT) is a pioneering research facility dedicated to harnessing Augmented & Virtual Reality for transformative healthcare solutions. Led by a diverse team of engineers, clinicians, and researchers, the lab focuses on advancing medical training, patient care, and therapeutic interventions through virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) systems. Through the development of AR & VR simulations, the lab enhances medical training by providing realistic, hands-on experiences for healthcare professionals, reducing risks associated with real-life practice. Moreover, AR applications are utilized to improve patient education and engagement, empowering individuals to actively participate in their health management. In therapeutic interventions, VR environments are leveraged to alleviate pain, reduce anxiety, and facilitate rehabilitation for neurological disorders. Collaborating with neuroscientists, the lab explores the neural mechanisms underlying VR/AR experiences, paving the way for personalized treatments and improved patient outcomes.
