School doors open at 8:00 and students are to go directly to their classroom. Students will unpack backpack and place binder in cubb to be checked for parent correspondence. Students will then complete name ticket, calendar and morning work.


Morning Meeting:  Recite the Pledge of Allegiance, complete the Starfall Calendar, Discuss the Weather, Practice counting using tens and ones chart, counting videos and Bridges Number Corner.


Heggerty Video:  We use the Heggerty Phonemic Awareness and Phonics Curriculum daily. Students will learn sound-letter correspondence, rhyming, isolation of beginning and ending sounds, blending segmented words adding and deleting phonemes and substituting phonemes. We will begin by learning about rhyming words, making compound words and isolating beginning and ending sounds in words.


Core Knowledge Language Arts Skills:  We use the CKLA curriculum daily. Students will learn sound-letter correspondence, letter formation, counting syllables, blending segmented sounds by adding and deleting phonemes and substituting phonemes to read words. and eventually decodable books. We begin the year learning how to hold a pencil, use proper pressure when writing and basic writing strokes that will progress into letter formation.. 


Core Knowledge Language Arts Knowledge:  We use the CKLA curriculum daily. CKLA is a comprehensive program for teaching reading, writing, listening, and speaking while also building students' vocabulary and knowledge across essential domains in literature, world and American history, and the sciences. We will begin the year learning about nursery rhymes.



Differentiation:  During this time students who need additonal support will be given differentaited instruction.


Recess and Lunch: Students will go to the cafeteria for lunch from 11:15-11:45. They will then go to recess from 11:45-12:15. With the weather getting colder, please be aware that we will still go outside for recess. Make sure children are dressed appropriately for the weather.


Quiet Time: Students are given time to decompress after lunch and recess, we spend this time taking a break with a video.

Wednesday: Helper ***Remember to wear gym shoes.

Thursday:  Library ***Books must be returned to get new ones!

Friday:  Music

Math: We will be using Bridges Math this year. In Kindergarten, students will learn counting and number formation, adding and subtracting colors and shapes. We will begin the year introducing numbers 1-10.

Centers: Centers are hands on learning activties that reinforce the skills that we are learning in class. These activities may be individual or group activities.

Free Choice: Student can choose what they want to play with to decompress at the end of the day.

Pack Up: Students pack up all papers and binders, put coats on and prepare for dismissal.

Dismissal: Students are dismissed as car riders, walkers or bus riders.
