You Can't Handle The Truth

The Documentary Film minimester class watched a number of films--long and short form--with a variety of styles and covering a wide range of topics.  We explored the use of sound in Blue Planet; shot selection and framing in The Elephant Whisperers, archival footage in Kaepernick & America; and the innovative and beautiful use of recreation in Girl Rising.

For their final project, students developed a research question and worked in groups to film their own short doc.  Conducting interviews and using stock footage, archival photos, and other tools at their disposal, they shot, edited, and scored the documentaries you will find below.  We hope you enjoy our 2024 Sandy Spring International Documentary Film Festival.
