Hello! My name is Hana El-Afandi, I am the Elementary School Social Worker at Bonner and Bear Cave Intermediate. I am so excited to be part of your child’s school community and to support our students in growing both academically and socially.
As the school social worker, my job is to help students build the skills they need to be successful learners and caring friends. I work with students in many different ways, including:
Individual Support: meeting one-on-one with students who may need extra help with emotions, behavior, or problem-solving.
Small Groups: leading groups that focus on skills like friendship, managing feelings, self-control, or coping with stress.
Collaboration, Family Support & Connecting Resources: working closely with teachers, parents, and staff to make sure each child has the support they need to thrive both in and outside of school.
My goal is to create a safe and welcoming space where every student feels heard, valued, and capable of doing their best. School is not just about academics—it’s also about learning how to manage feelings, build friendships, and develop confidence. I believe every child has unique strengths, and I’m here to help them discover and use those strengths in positive ways.
I encourage families to reach out any time with questions, concerns, or ideas. Together, we can make school a place where all children feel supported and ready to succeed.
