I grew up in Bloomington Minnesota, and I went to Jefferson High School. I then attended the University of Minnesota and received a Business degree. During this time, I was very active with the Boy Scout program, and so I decided to return to school to pursue a teaching degree. I have a BA and Masters in Education from the University of Minnesota.
My wife Rhonda is a kindergarten teacher in the Rochester School District. We also have two children Carter and Madison who are both going to Winona State University.
Some of my hobbies include golfing, reading, hiking, camping, and traveling.

Syllabus or Classroom Expectations
You can access your child’s grades through Skyward. I will also mark it late if it is a late assignment in the Skyward system. Please check it often.
Homework assignments will be posted daily on Schoology. By the second week of school students will be signed up on Schoology. At that point, we will send the parents access codes with directions for you to sign up. You can also download the free Schoology App if you have a smartphone. It is important that you get familiar with the Schoology site since you will have access to daily assignments, links, and materials that we post on a daily basis.
Assignments will be posted in Schoology on a daily basis.
All late work is due by the last day of school for that week or the end of a unit if it occurs in the middle of the week. Any work turned in after that point, will be a zero in the grade book unless the student has been absent.
Students who do not show their work (math) or exhibit poor quality work (not using complete sentences) will come in during recess to redo the work.
Positive Behavior Plan
The goal of our “Above-the-Line” behavior program is to promote a safe and respectful environment where all students understand the difference between appropriate and inappropriate behavior.
BCIS will be a safe and respectful learning environment for every student when we all work together as a TEAM. We will emphasize the 5 R’s of Respect, Responsibility, Relationships, Readiness, and Results.
Homework/Grading
Homework varies from day to day. Factors that affect the amount of homework include the pace of the student, the understanding of the materials, and time availability.
What can you do if you see low grades? Make sure your child is reading the directions before doing each assignment. They should be checking their work, go over key concepts, and review material that he/she will be tested on.
Absence from School - Students missing school for any reason (illness, appointments, vacations) will be required to make up all work. Assignments are posted on Schoology daily. Please pick up work ASAP.
Best time to call is between 7:30 to 7:45 or 3:15 to 3:30.
