Our classroom is broken into many different areas to help each student learn! Projects are displayed around the room and everything is easily accessible to students.
Every morning we begin with morning meeting and the calendar. We count how many days we have been in school, look at the weather, clouds, and temperature, and talk about the days of the week.
Outside our door is the lunch cart and recess toys. I also have a bulletin board for classroom news and a calendar of what day in the 6-day cycle it is.
Above the sink is our wall of synonyms! We use these in our writing to make the words sound more exciting.
This is the classroom writing center! Students can get different types of paper to help them publish a story for our book center. There is also post cards and a mailbox so students can mail one another letters!
This is our space for hallway displays. Every student has a picture above his or her work. The 2nd grade chromebook cart is always near our wall as well.
This is the math word wall and our computer table. We also have a writing process clip chart that shows our progress with book making!
This is our jobs chart! We switch jobs every Monday and hold each job for a week. By the end of the year, every student will have had a chance to be every job.
Our pet toads live here! We have two fire-bellied toads named Speckles, and Spot (they are green/black with orange bellies). The toads love swimming in their pool and eating crickets!
Students come to my desk for small group instruction in math and language arts. My GO BLUE group sits at this table for every lesson. All of the dots are dry-erase and there are reading strategies and number lines posted on the table.
We all love the classroom library! Students sign out one book to read and keep it in their desk. All books have been stamped with my name and are organized by genre/series. Before choosing a new book, the old book must be signed back in.
This is my desk. I spend most of my time here after school, because during the day I am on my feet teaching! Behind my desk is the weekly objectives board and signs charting our Trimester goals.
