Plants!

Over the months of April, May, and June, we will be growing plants in our classroom! Students can observe where seeds come from and how they transform into plants. I purchased a grow stand for us to use that will speed up the germination process!

Throughout the month of April, I would like students to bring in seeds that they find at home:

• Please DO NOT purchase any seeds or bulbs!
• Save the seeds that you find in your house/yard.

Seeds, bulbs, and pits, from fruits, vegetables, flowers, and trees are perfect!

• Place the seeds you find in a plastic baggie.
• Please place each type of seed in a separate baggie and label it with what type of seed it is.
• Wet a paper towel, squeeze out the excess water, and place that in the baggie as well.
• Place the baggie in a sunny spot until your child is able to bring it to school!
• We only need one of each type of seed, so any duplicates will be sent home.

In school, we will plant the seeds in a cup of dirt and will observe which types of seeds grow. This is an experiment, so I have explained to the class that not all of the seeds will grow.
