This is the start of my twenty-ninth year with Springfield School District. My first year here, I taught seventh grade math at ETR. I have been at the high school ever since that first year. In the recent past, I served as the district's Math Intervention Specialist (2014-2015) and the Mathematics Curriculum Coordinator for grades 6-12 (1999-2001, 2014-2017). I have taught Algebra I, Extended Algebra I, Consumer Math, Algebra II, Honors Algebra II, ACES Algebra II, SAT Prep, PSSA Math Prep, Trigonometry, and Pre-Calculus. I describe myself as a very organized and focused teacher with an empathetic style. I challenge myself to make mathematics accessible to all learners and to challenge those who excel at math. I am a firm believer in keeping lines of communication among students, parents, and teacher open. Email is my preferred method of contacting you. I look forward to working with you and your child towards his/her growth and success as a math student and as a person.
To be successful in Math, a student must independently practice what is taught. Homework is assigned nightly. Please do whatever you can at home to ensure this work is being completed at home and that students have the necessary calculator. Students are not generally given time in class to complete homework, so please expect them to have homework every night. A TI-83+ or TI-84 graphing calculator is required for all Algebra II classes. Please use PAC (Parent Access Center) to monitor your child's progress in my class. An online textbook is available for your child to use at www.bigideasmath.com.
Please use the resources below to read about classroom expectations and grading procedures.
I look forward to a successful year.
