SSD has many switch accessible toys that you can check out via the Instructional Resource Center (IRC). In the search box type in "switch toy"
If a toy/items is not accessible you can consider the following options:
*Battery interrupter
*Powerlink
*Dual Switch Latch and Timer
*all of these items are available via the IRC
To keep the activity interesting and motivating, think about how you can use the toy within a play theme rather than just using the toy itself.
Ex. Pick one of the switch toys to be your "class pet". The class pet will need a name!
Use an alternative pencil with partner assisted scanning to suggest names for the class pet, students will vote on a name, simple voice output with "that's the one I want", graph the votes, after the pet gets a name students will make it a collar. Dress up the class pet and have the pet do a "fashion show" and walk the runway. The pet will need to be fed, groomed, walked, etc! We are only limited by our own imagination!

Some iOS apps are designed with built in switch access! For apps that have built in switch access, you do not need to turn on switch control in the iOS settings! Simply add your Bluetooth switches/Bluetooth Interface (see linked resource below for step by step instructions), launch your app and use the switch settings within the app to play!
Most apps are not accessible and do require Switch Control to be turned on and a customized switch recipe to be created for the app to be accessible to switch users.
