I grew up in Santee, and I am proud to work in the district where I started my formal education!
I am a teacher because it is my passion to work alongside students to reach their academic goals. In our classroom, I have high expectations of all my students because I know that they are capable of achieving great things. I believe that every student has the ability to succeed and has unique strengths that they bring to their own education. As an educator, it is my job to create an environment that students can grow socially, mentally, and emotionally. With the right supports and growth mindset, every student can reach their fullest potential!
Another focus of mine when teaching is integrating technology into my curriculum. I believe that mastery of technology and it's resources will help develop and strengthen 21st century learners.
When I am not teaching, I like to cuddle up with my cat, Dobby, and read a good book. I also like to go running, hiking, go to the movies, travel, and spend time with friends and family. I got engaged to my partner, Mike, in January, and we're getting married this upcoming March!
I LOVE to read and am part of several book clubs. I believe there is a book out there that can be the "gateway book" to every child's lifelong love of reading. I take it as a personal challenge to find that book for every child in my classroom, which is why we will be participating in read-alouds, book clubs, literature circles, and read-a-thons throughout the year. I will be challenging your child to try new reads!
