Meet Mrs. Singer

A bit about me...

This is my third year teaching 5th grade at Carlton Oaks and my fourth year of teaching! I have previously taught 5th grade at Walker Elementary in the San Diego Unified School District and 3rd grade at Carlton Oaks. I received both my undergraduate degree and my post baccalaureate teaching credential from San Diego State University, as well as my Masters Degree from National University. I am passionate about social-emotional learning (SEL), restorative practices and developing a growth mindset. When I am not teaching, you can find me at the beach, camping/hiking (7 national parks and counting) & going to sporting events!

My teaching philosophy...

I believe my role as a teacher is to nurture and encourage the lifelong learning of my students. Through hands-on activities, lively classroom discussions, and even the use of humor, I hope to prompt students to think creatively and explore their natural curiosity. Education is not a one-size-fits-all discipline, and I believe it's essential that my approach is tailored to the specific learning needs of each student. I get to know the students as individuals so I can appropriately support and challenge them academically. Finally, I expect my students to continually work with a growth mindset, contribute to our positive learning community, and be kind citizens.
