2019

Dear Students, Parents, and Guardians,

Welcome to Cajon Park! My name is Mrs. Simon and I am one of the 6th grade teachers. I am so excited to meet you and get to know you. This academic year is going to be challenging but fun. I strongly believe learning is a team effort. When parents, teachers, and students work together, great success is attainable. In an effort to keep communication open, please check this site for updates, student binders for newsletters, and please email me with any questions or concerns at anytime. I try my best to respond to emails within 24 hours during the work week.

Students will be assigned many different assignments/projects throughout the year and will be provided with ample amount of time to complete assignments in class. If there are any assignments that are not completed at school, students will need to complete them at home. I will post assignments and events in their Google Calendar, which can be found on the app and on the class website. Students will be encouraged to use Google Calendar to write down assignments that need to be completed and too plan time to study for upcoming tests or complete large projects.

Students will be using a variety of resources throughout their academic school year. One of these resources is their district tablet. In order for students to use this valuable resource, parents must fill out and sign some paperwork. I would love to have all of my students ready to learn within the first week of school.

Throughout the year, I will be updating this site with useful information about what is going on in the classroom, resources, and school events. Please bookmark this site and refer back to it weekly.

The Cajon Park team wants to create a positive learning environment for your child. To help develop and maintain a positive learning environment, we are using the Falcon Proud Mantra, which encapsulates behavior expectations set forth in the Step Discipline System. With the support of my classroom management system based on Discipline with Dignity by Richard Curwin, Allen Mendler, and Brian Mendler, I strongly believe we will establish a great learning community.

A little about myself; I am a San Diego native and I played AYSO Soccer for nine years. I truly love being a San Diegan because I love the beach, mountains, deserts, and the great weather. In my free time, I love to swim, walk my dog, hang out with family and friends, and travel. I went to San Diego State University and graduated with my BA in Liberal Studies. Go Aztecs! I then furthered my education at National University and graduated with a Master's in Education. To find more information, please take a look at my teaching portfolio.

I look forward to meeting and getting to know my students on the first day of school, August 21st, and meeting parents/guardians at Back-to-School Night on August 27th.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Simon
