Meet the Teacher

Hello!

I am Kelcie Orsinelli, a Kindergarten teacher at Chet F. Harritt!

This will be my eleventh full year as a Kindergarten teacher in the Santee School District, although I have had a connection to our wonderful school for over 20 years as my mother also teaches at Chet F. Harritt as a second grade teacher! In fact, I started as a teacher at the same classroom and the same grade level that she did over 20 years ago! I have wanted to be a teacher since I was five years old, and I am so grateful to be able to teach each and every child that walks through my door!

My belief as a teacher is that every child can learn, but not every child learns in the same way! As a teacher, I look to the child to see what do they need to learn and have a great experience at school. It is always my goal to make learning FUN and exciting for students so that they develop a lifelong love of learning. The first few years of school are so important as they learn foundational skills that will benefit them throughout their entire academic career! I am so excited to see how each Forest Friend learns and grows this year!

When I am not in the classroom, I am usually planning a fun trip around the U.S.A. or a new country to explore! Above are photos from my trips to Austria and England. In case the second photo doesn't give it away...I LOVE to read and am a big geek about my favorite books. I enjoy going to anything with music, getting outside for a hike or walk around the water, pilates, and especially love spending time with my two little nieces!
