Keep Scrolling Down for Goodies!
Keep Scrolling Down for Goodies!
Active, fast-paced game that builds the part-part-whole concept of addition.
A great 'adding to 20' game. You just need a pack of playing cards, paper and a pencil. You could adjust this game to only use numbers 1-10, or make it harder using numbers 1-50.
Great game that explores the link between addition and subtraction.
Great game for practising mental addition and subtraction. Kids love playing it, especially the part when they kick the other player out of their house! You just need a deck of cards with the picture cards removed, a piece of paper and a pencil to set up your game board.
Simple game which looks at subtraction as comparison/difference rather than take-away.
Fun strategy game that is easy to play yet more complex than it first appears.
Best Maths Games at Home USE-
A pack of cards (UNO cards?)
Dominoes
100's chart (below) and counters (buttons, gumnuts, anything!)
Parking Lot print out (below) (or numbers written up to 18 on a sheet of paper)
Dice (use them from your board games at home!)
While sitting around the table, ask your child to figure our how many feet are under the table without looking. If your child is up for a challenge have them figure out how many toes are under the table.
In this activity, your child will use ‘unifix cubes’ to make sense of parts and wholes and relate that to addition and subtraction of pairs.
A small handful of anything you have on hand: coins, paper clips, a row of pebbles, etc will work just as well. Grab a handful, some objects in one hand and some in the other. How many in one hand? How many in the other? What does it equal all together? Your child could write out number sentences to go with each round. Eg 6 + 4 = 10.
We haven't set any logins this year for Studyladder, however if you'd like to set your child up with this resource go for it!

KENKEN is a bit like magic numbers. Using the numbers 1,2,3 in a 3x3 box here, put them in so the bold box makes the answer in the corner....
